Chancellors Best Skeeters in Pitching Duel
|
Fans of the Chatsworth HS Chancellors who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Chatsworth HS win over the visiting Yerington HS Skeeters, 1-0. Fausto Sánchez started for the home team against Joe Matthews. Joe Matthews earned accolades for his performance. The winner in relief was John Ross. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. William Maloney collected save number 1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Rubén López delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, the Chatsworth HS catcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Chancellors in front, 1-0.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said López.
