Kauai picked up a win at Hilo Ballpark, bumping off the Hilo Hoops, 4-2. Pitcher Roberto Sánchez was a major reason the Monsters emerged victorious. The save went to Lloyd Willerton, number 7 for him. The first-place Monsters have won 5 in a row.
Kauai used a clutch hit from Liang-hsi Lok to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Monsters ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I believe in our guys," said Kauai skipper Hugh Watson. "I like the energy they're playing with."
