The Takaoka Shiko beat the Salton Sea Kilmers by a score of 4-1. Takaoka left fielder Kamau Gurnah deserved the lion's share of the credit. Gurnah was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Shiko. Hayden Mchugh, credited with the save, is now 24 for 25 in save opportunities. The second-place Shiko sport a record of 43-40.
With Takaoka leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Gurnah hit a slider from Eduardo Mendoza for a 2-run double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Shiko ahead, 3-0.
"Good win for us," said Gurnah. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
