Battousai Win Thriller, 5-4
|
The Kuwana Steel Dragons got a superb performance from pitcher Douglas Turpin. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Edo. The Battousai won the game, 5-4. Turpin threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner in relief was Chris Hamm. He is now 6-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. With the win, the Battousai improved to 62-32.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 4-4, designated hitter Matabei Miyamoto won it for Edo. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Miyamoto hit a 1-0 slider from Jason Maddox for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 5-4 win.
Miyamoto said afterward that "winning is what it's all about."
