Kure Beats Edo, 5-3
|
The Kure Arsenal topped the Edo Battousai, 5-3, in Trinity action at Newark Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Kure pitcher and Lynchburg, Virginia, native Richard Lindsey. The Arsenal, at 37-41, sit in 4th place in the Trinity.
Kure used the timely hitting of Tsugumichi Tada to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Arsenal on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Kure manager Jake Lee. "It's usually not just one thing."
