Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Spell Swords
The Calgary Stampede got a sterling performance from pitcher Elio Polandi, but the Lodoss Spell Swords still prevailed, 3-2. Polandi threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The winner in relief was Trevor Ross. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 6-3. Lodoss, now 32-51, holds down 4th place in the Pacific Alliance Cherry Blossom.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, center fielder Duane Funnell won it for Lodoss. With the bases loaded, Funnell hit a first pitch fastball from Román Franco for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.

"I know we have our doubters," said Calgary manager Mario García. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
