Panthers Defeat Ligers, 6-3
The DeSoto Central HS Panthers bested the Blanchard HS Ligers, 6-3, at Ligers Ballpark. Artie Hughes was one of the standouts. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3. DeSoto Central HS reliever Alexis Crum picked up the win to move to 1-1. Don West suffered the loss. The win puts the Panthers at 24-20, while the Ligers drop to 15-29.

DeSoto Central HS used the timely hitting of Howard Blackwell to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Panthers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It feels good to get this one," Hughes told the DeSoto Central HS Chronicle.
