Lions Best Hitmen, 6-5
|
The Amsterdam Lions weathered a fine game by New Jersey center fielder Don Washington to upend the Hitmen, 6-5, at Stadium Urbanus. Washington was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Pat Condon closed the game out for Amsterdam, earning his 19th save. At 44-37, Amsterdam is in third place in the Imperial League Trans Atlantic.
Tomomi Harada, who is tied for 5th in the IL in doubles with 22, helped out the Amsterdam cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder went 2-4 with a double.
"I still think this team can play even better," Harada told the Amsterdam Times.
