The Aurora Borealis topped the Kalamazoo Badgers, 4-0, in Sovereign League action at Northern Lights Park. The standout performance belonged to Aurora pitcher and Oranjestad, Aruba, native Martín Gutiérrez. Gutiérrez picked up the win for Aurora, going 5.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Aurora is now 45-35, while Kalamazoo is 43-37.
The Borealis got a big at-bat from second baseman Rubén Ortega, who in the bottom of the third hit a run-scoring double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Borealis on top, 2-0.
Ortega called the win "a collective effort."
