Oilers Sneak By Deltas, 1-0
|
The Oilers grabbed a win, 1-0, at Ballpark of Queens, overcoming a fine effort from Sacramento pitcher Katsuyuki Daisen. Daisen went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Long Beach reliever Hayden Rudder picked up the win, upping his record to 7-5. Travis James was saddled with the loss. The Humboldt-leading Oilers are 78-53.
Long Beach won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With no outs and Travis James on the mound for Sacramento, designated hitter Raúl Costello hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Oilers fans to their feet.
"I like the roll we're on," said Long Beach manager Gerardo Vargas.
