Victory Pushes Oilers Record to 73-51
|
Long Beach rode a decent outing from starter Carlos Sánchez to victory over the Boise Remuda. The final score was 4-3. Hayden Rudder earned his 20th save in 21 tries. The first-place Oilers, at 73-51, now lead their division by 3½ games.
Atsushi Ono had a big solo home run for the Oilers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Long Beach leading 3-2 and the bases empty, he got a curveball from Ramón Fuentes and swatted a home run to left. It was his 25th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Oilers ahead, 4-2.
"I still think this team can play even better," Ono told the Long Beach Chronicle.
