Malts Handed 8-5 Loss by Reno
|
Reno catcher Francisco Alejándrez helped his team beat the Madison Malts, 8-5. Alejándrez, who is a two-time All-Star, went 2 for 4 for the Zephyrs. José Ojeda was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 13 hits, with no walks and 9 strikeouts. Anthony Soame got credit for the save for Reno. It was his 18th of the year.
Early in the game, Alejándrez had a run-scoring double for Reno. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Zephyrs on top, 1-0.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Alejándrez.
Reno is first in the Sovereign League Desert Hills with a record of 46-30.
