Bowheads Beat Grunts, 4-3

Eric Lewis did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Fairbanks Grunts from losing, 4-3, to the Kivalina Bowheads at The Sanctuary. Lewis was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winner was Richard Chapman, who threw 115 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Mason Brock picked up the save, his 5th.
Seinosuke Furukawa made an early impact for Kivalina when he stroked his 23rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which came with no one out in the bottom of the third, put the Bowheads on top, 4-0.
"We ground out the win," said Furukawa. "That's all that matters."
Kivalina, now 43-60, holds down last place in the Alaskan League Klondike.
