Multi-HR Game for Butterfield in 7-0 Win
|
Not everyone stuck through the 48-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
Led by Brian Butterfield, the Angoon Avalanche downed the Homer Wallbangers, 7-0. Butterfield went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Avalanche. Ricardo Cruz got the win, improving to 5-5. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 2 hits and no runs, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Brian Butler closed the door for Angoon, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
The Avalanche got a big at-bat from first baseman Luis Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Angoon a 2-0 lead.
"Nice win for us," said Butterfield. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The Avalanche now have a mark of 40-47.
