Traders Sink Gunslingers, 3-2
|
Kenai pitcher Kenji Yokota did his part in helping his team beat the Dawson City Gunslingers, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Yokota got the win, improving to 6-4. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Yokota allowed 1 run. Jim Flores picked up the save for Kenai, his 4th of the year.
The Traders got a big hit from shortstop Mitsunari Kohara. In the bottom of the fifth, Kohara pounded a solo home run to right. His 21st home run of the season put the Traders ahead, 3-1.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Yokota.
With the victory, the Traders record now stands at 46-34.
