The Neo-Tokyo Akira topped the Reno Zephyrs, 7-5, in Sovereign League action at Washoe Field. The standout performance belonged to Neo-Tokyo pitcher and Kishiwada, Japan, native Senzo Matsuo. Neo-Tokyo reliever Senzo Matsuo picked up the win, while José Ojeda took the loss for Reno. The Akira raised their record to 48-94.

Neo-Tokyo used a clutch hit from Garry Charron to snatch the win. The left fielder belted a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Akira ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit, but it was huge.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Charron, "one at-bat at a time."
