Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Avalanche
|
The rain did not keep Angoon and Sitka from finishing their game.
The Sitka Capitals got a superb performance from pitcher Tetsuhiko Sumita. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Angoon. The Avalanche won the game, 6-1. Sumita threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Angoon reliever Kamiel Hessing was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Rubén Hernández took the loss.
Luis Rodríguez found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sitka hurler Rubén Hernández, the 21-year-old first baseman drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 15th walk of the season put the Avalanche on top, 2-1.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Rodríguez.
The Avalanche now have a record of 25-30.
