Gunslingers Prevail, 4-2, Over Fairbanks
|
Dawson City turned a good effort from starter Rubén López into a win over the Fairbanks Grunts at Ballpark of Dawson City. The final score was 4-2. The winning pitcher was López, now 5-1. He tossed 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7. Gary Terry picked up the save for Dawson City, his 8th of the year.
In the top of the ninth, Guido Asseldonk stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Grunts were trailing 4-2, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Gary Terry made a terrific pitch and Asseldonk struck out. Gone was the dream of a Fairbanks comeback.
The win gives Dawson City a season record of 29-27.
