The West Lauderdale HS Knights beat the Benedictine Prep HS Infantrymen, 4-0, at Goochland Ballpark. Corey Lancaster was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The 16-year old shortstop was a menace to Benedictine Prep HS all day. Artie Tanner picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed no runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 1-0. The save went to Gerald Woodson, number 1 for him.
With West Lauderdale HS leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Lancaster hit a fastball from Gustavo Díaz for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Knights ahead, 4-0.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Lancaster told the West Lauderdale HS Daily News.
West Lauderdale HS goes to 2-3.
