Traders Beat Grunts, 4-3

The Kenai Traders did just enough to secure a victory over the Fairbanks Grunts, 4-3, at Ballpark of Cave Springs. Nobody did more than pitcher Manuel Elías. Elías went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-1. The Traders now have a record of 27-19 with the win over Fairbanks.
Kenai used the timely hitting of Hisayuki Matsuda to capture the win. The right fielder socked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Traders ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Elías.
