A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Akutan Island Eagles and Dawson City Gunslingers.

The Akutan Island Eagles bested the Dawson City Gunslingers, 8-4, at Ballpark of Dawson City. Young-tae Chong was one of the standouts. He went 3-6 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Kinnosuke Honma, the winning pitcher, is now 1-2. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 2.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Eagles sent 21-year-old second baseman Norberto Ortíz to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put Akutan Island on top, 6-4.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Chong.

The win brings the Eagles to 5-13, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
