The Toa Baja Gringos were almost helpless today in their 3-0 loss to the Bayamon Predators and hurler António Carrión. Carrión kept the Gringos confused all game, spinning a 4-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Carrión," Toa Baja manager Marcos Ruíz said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 26-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Carrión said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

In 9 starts this season Carrión has chalked up a 3-5 record and a 2.65 ERA.
