Reséndez Turning it Around; Lowry Off to Slow Start PDF Print E-mail
Written by Connecticut Nutmeggers
Tuesday, 02 February 2010 19:39

Reséndez is beginning to remind Connecticut fans why he was so exciting a rookie in '09UDDATE: 8/6/2011: Gloucester, MAFirst, an update on Reséndez: He ended up making 3 starts in July, with a 2.57 ERA and an opponent batting average of .203.  Not bad Adrián, not bad at all.  Reséndez is looking to close out the season strong, racking up 1 win and 10 K in 7.2 innings of work in his first August start.

On the offensive side of the ball, José Montaño is having a great second year as a Nutmegger.  No one probably would have predicted this output from the sophomore.  Currently he is on pace to drive home over 100 RBI!  This is excellent news for the Nutmegger infield.  It also should be noted that José is batting .352 against lefties this season, absolutely crushing them with a .648 slugging percentage!  Whoa!

A little bit quieter than the guys previously mentioned are the performances from Cris Reyes and Luis Valdés.  Both of them have an ERA of 3.00 or under, both have 8 or more quality starts, and both are only allowing about 7 hits per nine innings.  That is crazy talk.  Neither of these guys will strike a lot of people out, but they seem to be fooling the opposition without it.

7/24/2011: New Orleans, LA – It might be a bit too soon to mention this, but Adrián Reséndez has quietly put up a 2.40 ERA in his two July starts, holding the opposition to a batting average of .173.  That is the Adrian we love! Of course after this great news gets published, these nice numbers will most likely be turned into junk like every other month, but here in Connecticut people are really rooting for Adrian to turn it around once and for all.  A strong finish to the season would be great for the fans and for team morale.

On the other side of the fence, Ronald Lowry is taking more time than was anticipated to figure out PEBA pitching.  He has adapted to the SS position fairly well, though.  Lowry hasn't made an error in 64 chances.  This has made the pitching staff pretty happy.  Once Ronald figures out left-handed pitching, the whole team will become happy, and maybe the Nutmeggers will be able to turn this mediocre season around.
