The myth of Steve Dalkowski
A man who would have easily broken OOTP's game engine....
and.... one of the most heartbreaking sports stories ever.

He could throw a baseball at 100+ miles an hour, but struggled to control it for years in the minors. But, in spring 1963, he finally figured it all out and was given a tryout with Baltimore in the major leagues, but he was handed a cruel twist of fate just before he was given his big chance... and it ended up ruining him. His heartbreak turned him into an alcoholic and never ended up playing in major league baseball....

Here are some of his ridiculous stats. Pay close attention to 1960...

This is all from a brilliant doc called "Fastball" on Youtube and Netflix.

I watched that not long ago. Steve Dalkowski was a fascinating figure. I especially enjoyed their comparison of fastballs of different eras. If I remember rightly it was Walter Johnson, Bob Feller and Nolan Ryan. Interesting conclusions.
