That throw home - which would have had Hosmer nailed easily, had to have been one of the worst throws I've ever seen.

If the throes had been even close Hosmer could have gone down as a total goat. Instead, he's a hero. Baseball is strange, as Rory so eloquently stated.

Except ... On Buster Olney's a Baseball Tonight podcast they said KC scouts and coaches had impressed on their players that Lucas Duda has a terrible arm, and they should test it. So Hosmer tested it. The ESPN guys felt with a better arm at first, he would have held at third.

Baseball is strange, but in this case good advance scouting paid off big time.

True enough. I've read lots of commentary on the question of Duda's arm. But I think that if that play runs 100 times, Hosmer is out 85 of them.
