We're in the same boat there, though Toyama has little to complain about these days.Cliff Hangers wrote:We've been trying to improve the SS area for two years, but it's danged hard.
Yeah, I know ... that's what she said.

NT has drafted about 4 SS high in the last 2 drafts. Hopefully one of them will hit, literally and figuratively.

Re: RSD Middle Infield Report
Neo-Tokyo has used the contraction draft and free agency to dramatically improve its middle infield, which is now the class of the Rising Sun Division.
If you like double plays, this your division. Rising Sun teams occupy the top four ranks in double plays turned in the Sovereign League.
Okinawa is leading the division and the league in double plays turned with 57.
In second place is Neo-Tokyo with 54.
Behind the Akira is Toyama, with 47.
In fourth is Shin Seiki with 46.
Neo-Tokyo second basemen are posting a .843 OPS
Shin Seiki second basemen are posting a .836 OPS
Toyama second basemen are posting a .740 OPS
Okinawa second basemen are posting a .645 OPS
Neo-Tokyo shortstops are posting a .614 OPS
Toyama shortstops are posting a .609 OPS
Shin Seiki shortstops are posting a .596 OPS
Okinawa shortstops are posting a .397 (not a typo) OPS
Looking at the combined WAR of the teams' listed starters at second base and shortstop, the clubs of the RSD are ranked like this:
Neo-Tokyo: 3.3
Shin Seiki: 1.5
Toyama: 1.0
Okinawa: 0.2

I love double plays! And interesting post like this one. Nice write up Morris. I gotta get a second baseman with a position-appropriate name like 'Trapper'

If Endo could hit at all, he would be an All-Star.

Re: RSD Middle Infield Report
The numbers are a textbook example of "if you're not going forward you're going backwards" Everyone's improved except for Okinawa. Have to believe the Shisa will be looking to make some upgrades to rectify this.
