Harlan Ellison is obviously not without opinion...and in this case I pretty much agree with him. :)

I keep thinking that I'm coming to the end of this project, and that things will settle down, but ...

Cross-posting from my blog...and note that for a limited time of this week only, the first bundle (vols 1-4) are 20% off!:
I'm really pleased to report that electronic versions of Saga of the God-Touched Mage are now available in bundles of four volumes each. This well-received series consists of eight novellas, and has been ranked as high as #1 on the Amazon UK Dark Fantasy List, and #2 in the US.

And, for anyone interested in a print version of the entire package, one shall be available (probably in Mid-May). It will be ... uh ... quite large. :)

While I'm posting, let me note that the entire SGTM series will be published May 26th. The e-versions are already on preorder, and the big chunk of paper will be available to order a day or three before then. Will update further.

Full announcement here.

Congrats Ron  . Obviously the one-volume idea may help avoid the complaints about the individual volume pricing.

I sheepishly admit to having only read the first two. I am not reading much of late, still finishing up my little opus.* I intend to buy the new one-volume when its out and then will pass on my copies of #1 and #2 to a friend in hopes he'll get hooked and buy the rest.

Question: if I buy the single volume, am I allowed to leave reviews also for each of the individual parts?

The technology allows you to review anything you want, whether you've used it or not. Ethically, if you buy the omnibus, I think it would be completely acceptable to review all parts, and the various chunks. The golden rule, to me, would be to avoid recommending anything that you haven't actually read. :)

RE: Rewriting is hard.

Yes, it is. That's where the magic is, though.

On the other hand, you also have to realize that you truly learn best by writing writing _new_ stories. So, write this one as gud as you kin, then get it out there and move on to the next. It's hard to let something go, sometimes ... but it's quite freeing once you do.

Deciding when something is done can be quite a weird balancing act.

Not to derail a thread about your writing, but yes, I'm aware I need to move on. But the good news it is done, start to finish, complete. Two friends are reading it now. And I'm shortly getting hard copies to two others who don't want electronic versions. I'm just poking through it, fiddling with word choice and sentence structure, while I await feedback. So while I took way too long, at least I ain't one of those who never managed to finish  .

Congratulations, Mike! Keep us informed on how things develop! I'm probably 8-12 months behind you, so I'm very interested to hear about your road to publication.

They do, but it's not exactly as large as you may like. :)

I just picked up the entire Glamour of the God-Touched series in epub format at Kobo.com. Ron included a promo code in his latest newsletter which took down the price for Volume 1 (parts 1-4), and signing up as a new Kobo member netted me another code that discounted Volume 2 (parts 5-8). Can't argue with $7.50 for the entire eight-part series!

My suggestion? Wait until May 26 when the combined edition comes out, sign up for Kobo.com to get your 40% off coupon code, and have the whole thing in one giant epub, ready for summer reading! ;-D
