Our rules are not identical to MLB. We also don't allow waiver deals past the deadline like MLB does.

I don't have a problem if we want to open up deals that don't involve players after the trading deadline. But that option would be a new one.

Personally, I'm OK with it either way, but I think we need a clarification from the Matt and the Board.

We actually do allow waiver deals - most people just don't use them. Most likely because they have to clear waivers and there is no guarantee that it will happen (and most of us are very adverse to risk). The only difference in trading rules comes from where we take a hiatus during the playoffs. Not sure on cash and picks as I don't think the situation has really ever come up. I could be wrong or missed something throughout the years, but the constitution doesn't clarify, nor does it specifically disallow...so that might be a good place to update the constitution.

Kevin was referring to the LRS only when he said no waiver trades. My recollection is that they are allowed in PEBA but not the LRS.

I guess my point was that if there is a moratorium on waiver deals it ought to be spelled out in the constitution...rather than based on our recollections....

Agreed. It seems the Constitution has changed, as that section I quoted from an old post seems to have been removed from the document itself. I also have no problem with this trade or waiver deals but clarity is needed.

Not really a waiver deal? No players are involved, just picks and cash?
