DUL-MAN Trade

#1 Post by Bill »

Warriors receive:
RF William McKee
Gloucester's 3rd round pick

Maulers receive:
RF Jim Owens
RF Jimmy Hudson (AA)
SP Hoyt Gardner (AAA)
Duluth's 2nd round pick

Thanks to Jeff for the brief negotiations. We think McKee gives us a little more reliable presence from the left side to make another run at Fargo this year.

Very interesting deal! Manchester gets back a good ballplayer, some minor league talent, and a favorable swap of draft picks, yet there can be little doubt that Duluth strengthens their major league club in the McKee-for-Owens outfielder swap that forms the trade's cornerstone. I'm left wondering if McKee's $10M+ arbitration award punched his ticket out of Manchester.

Confirmed. Many thanks to Bill for good negotiations!

Surprisingly, perhaps, McKee's salary really wasn't a factor here; it's more that our rebuild makes most sense with him as a piece to bring in the younger talent that we need.
