PEBA Tourney Challenge

#1 Post by John »

There are still a couple hours to get into our group at ESPN.com! We've got 10 entires at the moment... well, 9 really, since mine is about as ignorant a bracket as can be. :P

Best team name in the group goes hands-down to Brad Dobney: "I Hate Duke". Eloquently put, Brad, and so very, very true.

Because it's probably not clear, I'm the Dirty D, and A Loup, which is not my name, is my buddy who I leech Insider off of.

Yeah, so I'd say I'm not winning the bonus CPs here! :-P

I always enjoy picking upsets, which always leaves me with a quickly broken bracket. On a day when all the favorites were winning, I was destined to go down in flames.

Hats off to the Hitmen and the Thoroughbreds for being even ballsier than me with their underdog picks!

yep, it definately is more fun to pick the upsets, but most of mine upset picks are today...so I am more pensive about today's final score than yesterdays :-o

Looks like it's going to come down to a battle between Kentucky and Kalamazoo. Kentucky will wing if UNC goes all the way, while Kalamazoo will win if UCLA is the victor. Aurora will win if we score this like golf, where low score prevails. Thanks to Canton for not completing his bracket, rendering his entry forfeit and keeping me out of the cellar.

I can't win. Rudis1 has the same picks as I do with a 30 point lead.

You're right, my bad. I meant to say New Orleans has a shot at betting Kentucky if UNC wins.

Although the Tournament doesn't wrap up until tonight, we can now officially crown the winner of our PEBA Tourney Challenge. Congratulations to Duane Rudis of the Kentucky Thoroughbreds for coming out on top! Duane selections ranked him in the 77th percentile of ESPN competitors. He didn't get either of finalists, but then no one but Tyler of the Coal Sox managed to do that. ;) Duane will receive a bonus of 2 CPs for his astute picks. Great job! ;-D

Paul Tanner of the New Orleans Trendsetters was close behind Duane, ranking 75.1%, and Chip Darlington of the Kalamazoo Badgers was third at 71.1%. On the other end of the spectrum, this tourney punished dreamers like the Bakersfield Bears, who managed to rank a miserable 16.7%. But if you think that's bad, you ain't seen nothing. Witness the raw hideousness of your Commissioner's selections! I only managed to rank at 11.3% amongst ESPN players. Now that, folks, is why I need to stick to baseball! :-B

The most important thing to remember though is:

Duke Sucks

That is all.
