No luck for the IL in their half of the 4th; Berry is stranded at 3rd. And hey! The SL just got their first hit of the day, courtesy of Miguel Salinas against new IL pitcher Michael Ayers.

Oh, what defense! First. "Bingo" Suárez made a nice grab in the hole and threw out slow-footed Bob Keller for the second out of the inning. But way more impressive was the play Newton Wilcox just turned in. Mike Arnopp looked to have a double high off the left field wall that would have scored Salinas, but Wilcox raced back, jumped, and caught the ball just as he bounced off the padding on the wall! That preserves the shutout for the IL heading to the 5th. Bakersfield's Xiao-peng Li will be pitching.

The London faithful stand up and cheer Robert Collins's entry into the game. He'll be pitching to lead off the bottom of the 5th.

Okay, this is embarrassing. Aurora's Juan Silva starts the 6th for the SL. He induces super-easy tappers back to the mound from pinch hitters William "Pork and Beans" Petersen and Jeff "Cajun" Wilson. And Silva drops both of them. Two in a row, and I mean these were cupcakes. So Silva has a little situation on his hands here: two on and nobody out for former teammate Wilson Berry.

And now Silva walks Berry to load the bases. Looks like Silva will be left in to face pinch hitter Chris "Jitters" Long, which is pleasing London fans to no end. They're on their feet, stomping, chanting, and blowing those damn horns they've been blowing all afternoon! :P

Note to self, bunt excessively next time we face Silva ;-D

PEBA Commissioner wrote:Lilly is known more for his prodigious bat than his great range in the outfield. That double that Wilson Berry just hit would have been a tough play for anyone, but maybe a true centerfielder gets it before it drops on the warning track. It was out of Lilly's reach, though, and now Berry is on 2nd with one away.
Hey, Lilly has 24+ innings at CF over his career without a single error! So watch it!

PS: He lies.**

**EDIT: For those that weren't around, the commish made -- what in my mind at least -- was the best joke in the history of the league while live-broadcasting a 2007 or perhaps 2008 Rodriguez Cup game. A pitcher that was getting shelled indicated he wasn't ready to come out of the game and could keep pitching, to which the commish scrawled across the screen in gigantic painted letters "he lies".

Great play by first baseman Ramón Flores! He picks up Jitters's roller down the line, tags first, then fires over to second to get Berry. Pork and Beans scores on the play, but no RBI credited to Jitters. IL 4 - SL 0

Juan "Vulture" Suárez has found trouble for himself here in the top of the 7th, putting runners on 1st and 2nd with one out on an infield hit by "Bingo" Suárez and a walk to pinch hitter Decheng Wen. They're going to give the ball to Canton's Charlie Swan now. Let's see if he can get out of this jam.

Good to see Kodo put up a respectable outing on short rest. Also cool to see Wilcox with the nice defensive play - I guess he can field and swing the bat :)

Is it me or is the ASG a little bit different in that the home team always gets to hit first? I believe it was like this in year's past as well :P

Lastly, the IL is once again showing its dominance!

Ooof! Big cut and a miss by Lowry for the strikeout, his third of the game. Two away now.

Diving catch by McDonald to rob "Pork and Beans" Petersen of a RBI single! What a play! Time for the 7th inning stretch, which will take a bit longer than usual since we have to go through two national anthems.

The IL again threatens in the top of the 8th but they can't get runners home from 1st and 2nd. Can the SL muster up anything? They'll try in the bottom of the 8th against Andrew Sepkiechler.
