Did you try updating all your drivers - particularly your video driver? This is especially needed if you had to reinstall Windows. Just thinking out loud...

Re: PEBACiv - Game 4
Assuming Jason gets his game working, I'd have no problem starting at 9 p.m. ET. I'm itching to get slaughtered.Bureaucrats wrote:Bad news: I'm not going to be able to start at 8 on Thursday. My wife's family is celebrating her grandmother's birthday and I suppose I should go
I'll be back by 9 if we wanted to postpone like we did the other week.
Yes, I echo this suggestion. Definitely download and install the latest drivers for your graphics processor. It certainly could be your problem.Warriors wrote:Did you try updating all your drivers - particularly your video driver? This is especially needed if you had to reinstall Windows. Re: PEBACiv - Game 4
Dan helped me with the drivers Monday (I think). It didn't help.
If the re-install doesn't work I don't know what I am going to do. I am NOT going to stress over this as I have a ton of other things going on right now. I would be disappointing all of you I am sure, but I have had enough issues with my computer for one year. I am tempted to throw it away altogether LOL.

Re: PEBACiv - Game 4
UPDATE: We are a GO! I had to uninstall both Steam and Civ. Redownloaded both and installed. I was able to load up the game. The next question will be whether or not I can get into multi mode.
As far as I can tell, I am back up and running!

Re: PEBACiv - Game 4
Tonight's session went nothing like planned. It was to be a German bloodbath, and to be sure, it started that way. America quickly captured Hamburg but just as quickly offered a ceasefire. This allowed German forces, in conjunction with the armies of Banana Mountain Island (BMI), to turn their full attention to America's ally: Rome.
The sacking of the Roman Empire began immediately, and it was swift and brutal. Antium fell first, followed by Neapolis and Cumae. The path was open to the capital, and BMI forces took it. On the final turn of the session, Rome fell to Siam. Michael's reign as ruler is at an end.
We're down to four nations: America, the Aztecs, Germany and Siam. How things proceed from here is anyone's guess. We'll find out next Monday night.

Good luck everyone! Will look forward to the next new game. At this point I don't know who to trust anymore though when we play, everyone is a traitorous ruler!

I haven't betrayed anyone!
The Roman Empire's warmongering finally forced the hand of the BMI Alliance. With the bloodthirsty savages now eradicated from the Desert Island, peace is free to return.

Like John, I wasn't quite expecting that either. But the Aztec take the brains where we can get them. We are unsure where to get fine Roman brains for our Brains Flambe recipe now...

I'm sure there are some kicking around Rome still, if you want to poke around a bit.

Re: PEBACiv - Game 4
Bummer. Hopefully it clears up.
Unrelated...I tried uninstalling Steam and Civ and reinstalling just to see if it helps the dcing. Also did a triple eradication of malware over the weekend just case anything got through my normal ZoneAlarm. I don't think it will help, but you never know with these things.

It's okay Dan. I don't think I will be able to make it either.
In fact, I am SO swamped from now until April 15th I may not be able to be around Thursday either
I will keep you posted.

Re: PEBACiv - Game 4
NOTICE! Tonight's Civ V session has been CANCELED!
With two members reporting they may not be able to make it, I figure it's better to cancel now than to hold off to the last minute.Definitely let us know your Thursday availability as soon as you can so that the rest of the group can plan their Thursday night in case of cancellation.Cyclones wrote:In fact, I am SO swamped from now until April 15th I may not be able to be around Thursday either
