2009 Winter Meetings Chat Log

#1 Post by Denny »

Here's a transcript of the chat from yesterday's Winter Meetings, from the time I arrived until I departed at the end (with all my secret private messages removed, except in a couple cases where it was unintentional or humorous). Unfortunately people's text colors and the smilies wouldn't copy, but hopefully the gist of the event is carried through.
Welcome, Codgers
Welcome to room Lobby
The topic in this room is: Everything you want

[ Private Chat: <<< Battousai jumps out of Private Chat. ]

Calzones: I love the drive across that area of Texas. Easy miles.
Featherheads: By the way, do we post these trades in the forum?
Tenpinners: drove from Artesia, New Mexico to Arlington, Texas once....I'd rather get my toenails yanked out than make that trip again
Maulers: sorry; I'm back.
Maulers: Not that any of you missed me.
Calzones: You can't go across the border anymore from El Paso, which sucks, but have some lady friends there in El Paso, so I love to go there.

Bears: Art Minty is going to get some ink this year. I promise.
Steel_Dragons: if I had known Minty was a pop icon I would have held out for more
Codgers: YES
Codgers: Well, he wasn't until just now, Kuwana
Dinosaurs: If you trade a player with a team option for his 2011 season does the team option remain?
Calzones: But he will soon be immortal
Codgers: Yep FAR
Dinosaurs: thanks
Calzones: Yes, options remain
Codgers: Who are you trading with an option, Fargo? Tell us everything
Calzones: Living (barely) proof, Will #$%^& Thomas
Battousai: if any LRS team wants a pitcher, albeit foreign, juan valdes is on the block as well
Dinosaurs: oh its not who I'm trading away...
Bears: Art Minty is a Canook. It practically writes itself.
Steel_Dragons: Juan Valdez the coffe guy?
Codgers: Valdes comes with 50 free pounds of Colombian coffee

Codgers: The one who keeps crashing his motorboat
Calzones: Even more popular of a name is Roberto Martinez. That guy is everywhere. I have yet to play a solo league where he doesn't show up. I think he's stalking me.
Underground: Valdes is a good man, he used to brew a few cups every morning for the Underground
Knights: Im looking for a fifth starter
Codgers: #1 threat to America--Bears comedy
Borealis: lol
Bears: Yeah, but I knew after that first cup of coffee he had in the big he wasn't going anywhere ... too bitter. (somebody stop me).
Steel_Dragons: I went to puerto rico last year and looked in the phone book, 27 pages of Rodriguez's
Codgers: He got roasted in his first start
Borealis: We have now reached 12/15/2009

Bureaucrats: hey, you're getting Bingo chips everywhere
Codgers: lol
Bears: bureacrats now have line of the year
Tenpinners: 1B Billy Krause---..268, 26 HR, 90 RBI.....last call?
[ Private Chat: <<< Nutmeggers sneaks quietly out of Private Chat. ]
[ Private Chat: >>> Nutmeggers walks slowly into Private Chat. ]
Nutmeggers: Why so quiet in here?
Maulers: It's the calm before the storm.
Codgers: Nap time
Tenpinners: last post on who is available....SS Brian O'Donnell, 1B Billy Krause...and I'll add RF Butch Corrigan----but that one would have to be a blockbuster(but no one is untouchable on my team)

Tenpinners: San Antonio is hoping Murdock turns it around
Borealis: banking a lot on it, too
Steel_Dragons: is Rod Young an adult actor?
Calzones: He's just 23.
Calzones: Injuries wiped out last season.
Codgers: !
Maulers: Great trade! I wonder if, in several years, this will be seen as the move that turned it around for Kentucky.
Calzones: It could be. But they made a great trade earlier with Cruz as well, so that one will have to get looked also.
Underground: which first round pick is it? Doesn't SA have two?
Calzones: It's the third overall.
Thoroughbreds: The underlayment are layed
Codgers: SA could spare a 1st-rounder since they still have PS's
Thoroughbreds: BIG BIG changes in Kentucky ... new park dimensions as well this season
Calzones: not for long....
Codgers: !?
Featherheads: I hope Shatner didn't draw up the dimensions while drinking
Bears: need arroyo as it is ... can't give up pick, reliever, lane, and arroyo. unless the prospect is something pretty solid ?
Codgers:
Sandgnats_Bill: also SA is bound to pick up a few more First rounders considering his trading habits
Underground: Kentucky is trying to get the first 5 picks to themselves
Bureaucrats: Im looking for a good defensive shortstop with either good on-base skills. Youngish prefered (sounds kinda creepy...). Powere not required
Thoroughbreds: This gives us the 3rd, 4th, and 5th picks in first round
Longshoremen: Last call in Canton: Luis Hernandez, Gerardo Soto, Cesar Costa, Edmond Cliche
Longshoremen: Needed in Canton: SS, OF help, SP
Bureaucrats: oops, remove the "either" from that statement
Calzones: Cliche is an under rated player. Teams in need in the OF should look him over.
Transmitters: LRS'ers: I gotta take off soon. If there's any interest in one of my SP, esp Yamamoto, speak up now.
Tenpinners: and I add something
Tenpinners: sorry for that being public as well---just following Bakersfield
Sandgnats_Bill:
Codgers: Inside voices, fellows

Calzones: At his age, that's not all that's scrambled
Codgers: Hey now!
Codgers: Darn whippersnappers
Codgers: Back in my day, we....um, I forget.
Calzones: everything before the first Roosevelt administration is a fog for PS
Codgers: And after
Maulers: There a big one coming, fellas.

Borealis: maybe you should get in touch with him, duane. perhaps your work here isn't done after all.
Calzones: Need pitching. My farm system is weak on pitching.
Tenpinners: look at Reno's farm system in pitching----then you won't feel so bad
Maulers: I've got some in the kitchen cabinet, Duane. I'll hoist a drink tonight.
Featherheads: Speaking of Reno, is it me or Ichiyo Ito burst onto the scene out of no where
Tenpinners: yes he did...bigtime
Thoroughbreds: Sweet ... Bill will appreciate it

Tenpinners: still trying to figure out the skill difference between the PEBA and LRS here
Evas: all of the ratings are supposed to be identical
Sandgnats_Bill (private): lol-I just sent an email to John, please email him as well to confirm. Thx for the most useless, yet amusing trade in PEBA history!
[ Private Chat: <<< Transmitters jumps out of Private Chat. ]
Battousai: do you mean ratings or stats?
Tenpinners: both
Tenpinners: more stats
Battousai: check out the LRS forums for a study on stats
Tenpinners: how will a .300 hitter with 30 HR in LRS do if the move to PEBA? I think I know the answer
Battousai: ratings are same I believe
Featherheads: any team looking to trade pitching? like a solid reliever or middle of the rotation starter?
Featherheads: lol @ Reno
Tenpinners: I know the answer to one LRS migrant from last year----he did crappy
Battousai: batters showed on average a 17 point drop in OBP and a 58 ppoint drop in SLG moving from LRS to PEBA
Featherheads: Yeah I saw that player on your team last season and I just thought "ouch"
Longshoremen: Very tensely awaiting the contract updates...
Sandgnats_Bill: yeah, but they are great clunhouse presences
Steel_Dragons: but LRS # 4 and % starters are like PEBA AA pitchers
Underground: so they behave like most hitters on the Underground? hmm interesting
Tenpinners: yeah---he was hurt alot as well........I was estimating a 0.100 OPS difference....sounds like I was close
Battousai: the average rise in ERA was .46 between the 2 leagues
Sandgnats_Bill: lol-LON
Featherheads: I've personally waiting patiently on the free agent market... waiting for prices to drop a little. now sure if that is a good strategy
Sandgnats_Bill: Man Battousai, you are doing your homework!
Tenpinners: as a new owner, I benefitted from going after late season FA's last year at reduced prices
Sandgnats_Bill: A good strategy for saving $$$, but risky as there might be nobody left
Calzones: I think it's a good strategy Florida. I've already noticed prices creeping down slowly on some players.
Featherheads: Yeah I loved the Gagne signing
Featherheads: I was kicking myself on that
Underground: you got Gagne at a great price
Featherheads: for not signing him
Tenpinners: yes I did
Tenpinners: he'll pull an Andruw Jones this year though
Underground: he is a historically bad 1st half player....but watch out for the second half
Sandgnats_Bill: Gagne sucks in the 1st half and will dominate in the 2nd!
Underground: Bill is in my head man!
Battousai: alright guys i gotta go I'll see everyone later
Codgers: Bye bye Battousai
Underground: later
[ Private Chat: <<< Battousai leaves Private Chat. ]
Borealis: Announcing the TWELTH trade of the 2009 PEBA Winter Meetings
Borealis: Crystal Lake and Palm Springs have agreed to a BLOCKBUSTER
Knights: anyone intersted in Ken Price, he is avalable in Tempe
Codgers: Ohhh man here's the big one
Borealis: Palm Springs receives: Crystal Lake's 18th round pick, Crystal Lake's 20th round pick
Borealis: Crystal Lake receives: Palm Springs 19th round pick, $43
Underground: faints
Longshoremen: WTF?
Featherheads: $43 million?!
Borealis: SLOW DOWN GUYS! Geez.....
Underground: 43 bucks lol
Sandgnats: glad we finally got that done
Borealis: that'd be 43 bucks
Underground: Codgers got taken to the cleaners
Featherheads: that's enough for Denny and a week's worth of early bird specials
Sandgnats_Bill: We finally landed that coveted 19th rounder! Yeah baby! Eat it PEBA
Nutmeggers:
Codgers: I was a little nervous about giving up that much money with revenue sharing coming up next year, but I closed my eyes and went for it
Tenpinners: will $43 buy a beer at the new Yankee Stadium?
Bears: see you boys later. remember: art minty was traded for your sins (TM).
Borealis: doubt it, lol
Borealis: take care jon!
Codgers: lol
Featherheads: see you jon!
Sandgnats_Bill: see ya BAK
Borealis:
Codgers: Bye Bears
Borealis: we have a real chance to top last year's 16 trades... keep at it people!
Shisa: I am going to need to take off in about 10 minutes and get ready for a BBQ here at the house in the STL.
Nutmeggers: Man I want BBQ
Sandgnats_Bill: Yeah, you can't have any BBQ, unless you share with the whole winter meeting class
Knights: also Mark Young is available a good 4th or 5th outfielder and he is cheap
[ Private Chat: <<< Bears sneaks quietly out of Private Chat. ]
Borealis: i'm falling behind in my chat, so let me say in advance that it was a pleasure to have you here brinnon
Borealis: and glad that you were able to pull off one of our 2 LRS trades!
Calzones: how many trades so far?
Nutmeggers: CON is shopping for a top tier LF, Kirkland could be available for the right offer.
Featherheads: the LRS have been very active and provided good articles. So kudos to the LRS
Shisa: Thanks Featherheads......I'm out of here guys
Nutmeggers:
Featherheads: see you!
Underground: see ya Shisa
Sandgnats_Bill: See ya Shisa
Codgers: Bye Shisa
Nutmeggers: CON is shopping for a YOUNG top tier LF, Kirkland could be available for the right offer.
Borealis: take care brinnon!
Borealis: now i demand another trade announcement before i advance us to the last day of the Meetings
Calzones: Last call on Watts. He has to move at the meetings or wait until June. Any takers for a quality pitching prospect?
Borealis: who's going to step up?
Sandgnats_Bill: CON is shopping for a YOUNG top tier LF, Kirkland could be available for the right offer.
[ Private Chat: <<< Shisa leaves Private Chat. ]
Featherheads: I only have Bonsink but I'm keeping him. I'm hoping to he can prove that small guys with lack of stuff can be a top flight starter =P
Longshoremen: I'm out gentlemen... good work today
Borealis: thanks for being here brad!
Featherheads: Bye Brad
Nutmeggers:
Codgers: Farewell, lone Dobney
Sandgnats_Bill: bye Brad
Borealis: too bad you'll be missing "Blockbuster Day" coming up in 5 minutes
Nutmeggers: I am very curious about at least one of the blockbusters
Underground: my scout loves Bonsink, stuff be damned
Nutmeggers: Maybe I'll add one of my own if someone has interest
Borealis: we've got a couple lined up, and i'd love to add a third
Featherheads: as do my scouts, he jumped from SS-A to AAA all in one season
Borealis: a couple more minutes for someone to step up with a trade before i take us to the final day of the Meetings
Codgers: My scouts think Bonsink is a spoiled pretty boy
Sandgnats_Bill: wow, you seem to be coherent, I thought for sure you would be by now! lol
Borealis: i'm holding on
[ Private Chat: <<< Longshoremen leaves Private Chat. ]
Codgers: Maybe I should deal one of my 20th-rounders...
Underground: we need a trade where some real money moves....say $50
Borealis: lol
Codgers:
Sandgnats_Bill: $50 at 2010 FA prices-you crazy!??!?!?
Nutmeggers:
Borealis: alright fellas, looks like there's no announcements forthcoming, so....
Calzones: $50 is the fee to talk to the players agents receptionists assistant.
Sandgnats_Bill: lmao
Codgers: lol
Borealis: ANNOUNCEMENT - we are now advancing to the FINAL DAY of the Meetings
Steel_Dragons: whoo-hoo
Borealis: please email me with contract info requests
Sandgnats_Bill: does anyone know what a contract is???
Tenpinners: its what is put out on your head
Tenpinners: that would be an interesting twist---for $20 million you can kill a player in PEBA
Steel_Dragons: I vote that goes in constitution
Underground: the Hitmen would love it
Tenpinners: or increase his age by 10
Sandgnats_Bill: lol-Lon
Steel_Dragons: lose a finger in a gardening accident
Sandgnats_Bill:
Sandgnats_Bill: or get stung by a bee and miss playoff games-hmmmm
Steel_Dragons: that was hilarious
Underground: I hate it when that happens
Tenpinners: what round of a pick can i get for the nickname Tenpinners?
Steel_Dragons: imagine the ribbing he got from team mates
Sandgnats_Bill: the bee thing -I would pay CP for that
Featherheads: I can imagine him seeing a pot of honey placed in his locker
Sandgnats_Bill: RENO, I will give you a 21st rounder for the nickname lol
Steel_Dragons: change his nickname to winnie the pooh
Tenpinners: if he doesn't take it we will---the Reno Winnie the Poohs
Tenpinners: Tigger and Eeyore could be our mascots
Sandgnats_Bill: or... your players agents receptionists assistants. That way you could earn extra $50 a crack
Featherheads: you can have those mascots do a race like the Brewers sausage race
Sandgnats_Bill: lol-but look out for sausage beating 1B
Underground: does Randall Simon get to swing on them?
Borealis: so i'm calling on y'all to swing 3 more trades. get it done, people!
Thoroughbreds: Well .... it seems .... that .... It is ... time .... for another ... big anoujncement
Sandgnats_Bill: lol, scary when your crowning achievement in baseball is beating up a mascot!
Borealis: you've got 15 minutes
Borealis: will somebody call out what they're after again?
Featherheads: I got a 1st and 2nd rounder available possibly
Codgers: love and acceptance
Nutmeggers: I want a star RF or LF preferable a young one
Featherheads: C Ming Sun (AAA)
Borealis: for what, kevin?
Underground: Shatner is in the house
Featherheads: Taisuke Endo
Featherheads: I'm looking to package 1st and 2nd rounder for some young talent.. pitching preferably
Borealis: connecticut looking for a big-time corner OF
Featherheads: SS Kevin McNeill available too
Featherheads: I have young outfielders but looking to keep them...
Thoroughbreds: DOes ... anyone .... have .... .... .... a bottle of ... Tequilla that .... needs to .. be ... sampled?
Steel_Dragons: I could use some pitching for a posting to be named later
Bureaucrats: so I've accomplished absolutely nothing so far here
Sandgnats_Bill: Well, ARL, you could get Shatner some Tequilla
Featherheads: I have a 4th rounders and a 5th that I would like to use to move up in the draft also
Codgers: PS has a number of low-end to average middle relievers available at ML and AAA
Borealis: you've signed a lot of personnel behinid the scenes, dan
Bureaucrats: have any of them actually accepted though? haha
Borealis: you got some at the start
Bureaucrats: i guess i did have a coouple favorrable reactions
Bureaucrats: i think those were offers i had made last export
Bureaucrats: do they count?
Featherheads: I think there will be bigger moves after the meetings
Featherheads: Once people figure out what shape their rosters are in
Borealis: i think there will be a couple big moves right before the Meetings end
Featherheads: I am not sure what to think of the Manchester and Aurora deal
Tenpinners: Bakersfield and I have a semi-blockbuster that's on the verge of happening....their owners are fighting about it though
Underground: there were some big ones today, it seems like half the league moves on this day
Borealis: please do give your thoughts on it!
Sandgnats_Bill: any more Garcia's and 1st rounders going your way John?
Featherheads: I've been eyeing Hanna and Rivera.... grrr I can't get a 3b for the life of me
Borealis: ha, interesting to hear, jay
Tenpinners: he said it was the biggest argument they've ever had on a deal
Borealis: VERY interesting
Featherheads: I even tried to acquired Markus Hancock (I hope Knights is ok with me saying that).... it was never real close though
Underground: they like to play good cop bad cop, i know that routine
Knights: only a half hour left, once again here is who is left on Tempe's block, Price, Allen, Van Gorp, and Young, not superstars but good bench players
Tenpinners: lets just say I'd lose something big, but gain many things in return
Knights: Hancock is a Knight for life "Hopefully" LOL
Featherheads: Watts and Young are interesting 3B options but would loved to get a more ML ready 3B
Sandgnats_Bill: a pitcher like Hancock doesn't come around very often
Featherheads: i toyed with offering 1st, 2nd rounder, Luis torres and possibly something else
Calzones: They "fight " over every deal, It's a negotiating ploy.
Tenpinners: still very interested in moving Butch Corrigan by the way
Tenpinners: I believe ya....but I think it will get done....it would definitely help both teams
Codgers: It's like the salesman at the car dealership going in to "talk his boss into" the deal
Sandgnats: John - when will you be updating the file?
Tenpinners: is his "partner" a made up entity? lol
Thoroughbreds: Isn't Josh Emery on the FA market?
Featherheads: lol
Featherheads: Yes he is
Thoroughbreds: doesn't he play 3B
Underground: Emery told me he wants to go back to Kentucky and resume his "pooper scooper" duties
Borealis: emery has been playing hardball with a lot of people
Featherheads: I saw his PEBA numbers the last few years and avoided him like the plague
Calzones: If you want to hold up an armored car to pay Emery
Underground: he's a bum
Featherheads: He wants $17 million without showing any production in PEBA
Thoroughbreds: We offered ... he was offended
Codgers: An inflated sense of self-worth, you might say
Featherheads: Guy doesn't even know how to take a walk even if there was a crossing guard to help him out
Calzones: I've offended most of the free agents out there.
Tenpinners: free agents are offended by the thought of playing for Reno...not by the offer
Tenpinners: $250 million offer for 2 years----offended
Borealis: lol
Featherheads: the problem with Reno is that players think they are joining a bowling team
Underground: or the cast of Reno 911
Borealis: the original owner is a HUGE bowling fan
Tenpinners: I'll turn on ESPN Classic and watch some 1970s bowling to see if there are PEBA prospects there
Borealis: there might just be!
Bureaucrats: alrighty, I have to take off
Bureaucrats: good luck guys and cya later!
Calzones: the ones that tick me off are the bums who want like $700,000, and then ask for more. Increase the offer, and they still ask for more, despite the fact that thier "demand" is less than what you just offered.
Underground: see ya Arlington
Borealis: one sec, let me leave you with something before you go Dan
Featherheads: see you, nice chatting with you in PMs
Borealis: Announcing the THIRTEENTH TRADE of the 2009 Winter Meetings
Borealis: And let's hope it's not unlucky thirteen...
Calzones: It's apparent those guys are not going to sign with me for any amount of money
Borealis: Aurora and Florida have struck a deal
Featherheads: backup catchers want 4-6 million from me =/
Borealis: Florida receives: 1B Naoaki Kichida, 2B Ricardo Gabriel (AAA), Aurora's 8th round draft pick
Borealis: Aurora receives: Mark "Ice Cold" Richardson, Florida's 10th round pick
Featherheads: John held a gun to my head
Borealis: lol, it's true!
Underground: ohhhh interesting
Featherheads: I hated any deal with Richardson. I was so poised to trade a healthy Richardson for prime prospects
Borealis: indeed, i thought so too. negotiations with kevin were very fun. the way i look at it, hey, i'm out the door as owner in a year... why not live a little?
Featherheads: But noooooo he got injured like 3 games left into the season
Underground: it's a high reward type of thing if he comes back healthy, that's for sure
Borealis: of course coming back healthy is the big question
Featherheads: at the very least he should still be able to play defense I would think
Featherheads: it does not say much but my scouts have him rated higher now than last season
Codgers: And if he comes back crappy, well, it's the new owner's problem
Underground:
Knights: 1 minutes left
Knights: 15 minutes left
Featherheads: He is a free agent to be also. So depending how september goes... John can decide what to do with him
Knights: damn computer
Bureaucrats: ok guys, really have to run now
Borealis: yeah, i'll have to wait until october before deciding to reup him
Borealis: take care dan!
Featherheads: bye Dan
Bureaucrats: happy trading
Codgers: Bye 'Crats
Borealis: we're wrapping up at the top of the hour. get your last trade offers in, folks!
Featherheads: I'm still a little miff at how my best pitcher and player get injured long term... makes me feel OOTP hates us middle market teams heh
[ Private Chat: <<< Bureaucrats crawls out of Private Chat. ]
Borealis: i'd dearly love a couple more to roll in before it's all said and done
Borealis: it happened to me too, kevin
Tenpinners: I think one will
Borealis: yay!
Featherheads: yeah it is encouraging to see george thompson overcome injuries
Featherheads: I hope Saunders can do the same but he took a slight hit already
Underground: That's why I bubble wrap German during the offseason...keeps him safe
Borealis: i was thinking of alberto magana and kuemon kiyomizu
Tenpinners: I know it was said earlier, but when will a new file be out?
Featherheads: Not sure how Magana will turn out. looks like a brutal injury
Borealis: about an hour after the Meetings end
Borealis: it was
Tenpinners: cool
Tenpinners: I can't scroll up on mine
Featherheads: One thing i did noticed about Richardson is that he gets hbp a lot
Featherheads: He is my career leader in hbp
Steel_Dragons: the Run Hunt of PEBA
Underground: does he wear the armor like Bonds and Biggio?
Borealis: anyone want to do a minor deal involving sending me a league-minimum LH reliever?
Featherheads: He probably should if not already
Tenpinners: I think the size of the zone should double if batters wear that armor crap
Steel_Dragons: just aim for the knee instead
Featherheads: So John any plans after you "retire" as owner? I know it is still early to be thinking about that
Borealis: just happy to be retiring to full time commish status
Nutmeggers: I heard he is driving the Borealis into the ground before he leaves
Borealis: true, true
Underground: take over the world
Featherheads: I was thinking you should be our PEBA beat reporter... be like the Peter Gammons of PEBA. Just spend your whole life writing on PEBA
Underground: and get a white wig
Borealis: Announcing the FOURTEENTH TRADE of the 2009 Winter Meetings
Borealis: Palm Springs and Reno have struck a deal
Borealis: Reno receives: MR Cesar Ortega (AAA), Palm Springs' 10th round pick
Borealis: Palm Springs receives: 2B Mario Salinas (AA), Reno's 7th round pick
Tenpinners: Ortega definitely has a chance to make my pen
Codgers: Another blocknotbuster
Tenpinners: blocknot correct
Codgers: But I was very thin in infield prospects and had MRs to spare
Tenpinners: and I was the opposite
Codgers: It's like we were made for each other!
Tenpinners: lol
Tenpinners: well my wife and I are going to watch the new Fast & Furious movie so she can drool over Paul Walker so I'm outta here
Tenpinners: take care everyone
Underground: see ya
Codgers: Bye Reno
Calzones: have fun
Borealis: take care jay!
Featherheads: Bye Jay
Nutmeggers: Are there any more trades to announce?
Borealis: we've got one more in the queue
Calzones: might be
Underground: I was hoping to hear about the Reno Bakersfield one, but doesn't look like it's happening today
[ Private Chat: <<< Tenpinners leaves Private Chat. ]
Calzones: Couldn't possibly involve the Calzones
Codgers: It was all empty talk no doubt
Calzones: It won't happen until Reno throws in his first born
Codgers: lol
Featherheads: I feel bad for Brad, he has been trying to move Luis Hernandez since last season
Knights: well it is 5:00 so looks like the meetings are drawing to a close
Codgers: NOOOOOOO
Nutmeggers: With one trade left to announce.
Borealis: we've got one trade left to announce, possibly 2
Codgers: I didn't make a single deal for a 16th-rounder!!
Borealis: let me get the big one out of the way...
Borealis: Announcing the FIFTEENTH trade of the 2009 Winter Meetings
Codgers: ...
Borealis: The Tempe Knights and San Antonio Calzones hook up yet again for a BLOCKBUSTER
Codgers: Why is this not surprising
Featherheads: Octavio!
Borealis: San Antonio receives: 1B Ocatavio Pexago, SP Patrick Hunter (AAA), CF Jeffrey Thomas (Hi-A)
Borealis: Tempe receives: 1B Takahiro Yoshida, C Chad Hull (AAA), SS Allen Robinson (AAA)... deep breath
Sandgnats_Bill: wow
Featherheads: Octavio comes back to SA heh
Underground: the tension....it's .....too ....much
Borealis: SP Tuan Sima (AAA), SP Barney Sharp (AAA), LF Jose Maldonado (AA)... deep breath
Codgers: No one ever really leaves SA
Underground:
Borealis: Palm Springs' 1st round pick, Charleston's 4th round pick, San Antonio's 9th round pick, San Antonio's 10th round pick
Underground: lawd have mercy!
Steel_Dragons: good thing we're not keeping score at home
Featherheads: I hope Tyler has to enter that
Featherheads: but we are!
Featherheads: (hopefully Tyler)
Codgers: What!? I gave that first round pick to SA!! Tempe will just waste it on booze and broads
Underground: Tempe can field a whole team on just that trade
Borealis: told ya it was a blockbuster
Codgers: lol
Thoroughbreds: Ummm I think ... I ... will ... have a double
Thoroughbreds: WOW
Calzones: River boat gambling today....
Knights: that took the Calzones and I about 15 minutes to hash out
Borealis: lol
Codgers: And after all that Dave Watts stays with SA
Borealis: surprising, huh?
Knights: well I freed up some money and got a lot of draft picks
Sandgnats_Bill: that is a monster! congrats you two
Calzones: maytbe not, still looking at something
Borealis: with that, we bring the 2009 Winter Meetings to a close... or do we?
Codgers: lol
Borealis: matt, you have something for me?
Knights: My Team actually played over .500 once Pexego went down
Sandgnats_Bill: lol
Codgers: He was a locker room cancer evidently
Nutmeggers: You should have released his ass
Calzones: maybe....talking
Knights: alright im out of here, cant wait to see all my new faces
Underground: that crazy Brazilian didn't know when to keep his mouth shut
Borealis: this might need to be a post-WM thing... i'll need to get the new file out soon
Borealis: take care chris!
Sandgnats_Bill: Pexego will traded within 3 hours
Featherheads: see you Chris
Codgers: Bye Tempe
[ Private Chat: <<< Knights sneaks quietly out of Private Chat. ]
Calzones: Pexago has a permanent home at DH in Laredo where he can't hurt himself
Codgers: I feel and I didn't even change my team much
Featherheads: I guess I have some writing material for an article or two
Featherheads: change your team color this offseason for CP.
Nutmeggers: OK I'm out of here guys, good night
Codgers: ! But salmon is the new black!
Underground: change it to honor the Maui Stingrays...you know you want to
Borealis: take care patrick!
Underground: later patrick
Codgers: Bye CON
Calzones: Two seconds John, I think we have something
Featherheads: bye Patrick
Borealis: i'm waiting...
Codgers: Everyone waits for news from the smoke-filled room
[ Private Chat: <<< <ZONG!> Thoroughbreds beams out of Private Chat. ]

Sandgnats_Bill: I think we have 1 more............
Codgers: Does anyone else have the Jeopardy "final question" music going through their head?
Underground: I'm ready to answer in the form of a question
Borealis: Announcing the SIXTEENTH and FINAL TRADE of the 2009 Winter Meetings
Codgers: lol
Underground: tied the record!
Borealis: Crystal Lake and San Antonio have struck a deal
Borealis: San Antonio receives: MR Ben 'Hit Squad' Thomas (SS-A)
Borealis: Crystal Lake receives: 3B Dave Watts (Hi-A)
Borealis: a 1-for-1 prospect challenge trade!
Borealis: and with that, we call an end to the Winter Meetings. i'd like to thank all of you for coming
Borealis: i'll have a new file out shortly
Calzones: Is this the third year in a row I've struck the final deal at the wire? I think so.
Sandgnats: cheers
Borealis: stay tuned to the forums
Borealis: yes it is, matt
Codgers: Tip your waiter and drive safe, folks
Sandgnats:
Borealis: by the way, Winter Ball improvements will NOT be showing in this sim!
Featherheads: Was fun all
Steel_Dragons:
Underground: later all
Borealis: that will come shortly thereafter
Calzones: it was a blast, and well run as always John. Enjoy your evening.
Borealis: have a great day all!
Sandgnats_Bill: SA is awesome to deal with-no B.S. Thx Matt!
Codgers: When do they show up, commish? Monday?
Sandgnats_Bill: Thx all!
Borealis: sometime next week. i won't promise monday
Codgers: OK
Borealis: later guys
Calzones: thansk Bill. Hope the deal works well both ways.
Sandgnats_Bill: me too
Calzones: Time to eat. Later guys.
Codgers: Bye all!
[ Private Chat: <<< Sandgnats_Bill crawls out of Private Chat. ]
Featherheads: I'm out myself. Bye all! Thanks for the trades and discussions. Was nice to talk to you all in person rather than the forums

This is awesome Denny! Do you still have the color-coded text on your computer? If so, paste it into a Word document and email it to me. I'll try to get it posted on the homepage.

Best exchange of the Meetings:
Sandgnats_Bill (private): How about our 18th and 20th for your 19th and $100
Codgers (whispers to Sandgnats_Bill): Hmmm. Make it $43 and it's a deal
Mr. Hills, you drive a hard bargain, sir.

Unfortunately I don't have the colorized version--when I saved it I just put it in this little text edit program that doesn't save colors. Next time I might try pasting it directly into a Word document; maybe that would keep more of the formatting.

Yeah, copying it into Word should preserve the text color. If you want to do that next year, that'd be awesome. Re-reading this chat log is hella fun.
