IL/SL Writing Challenge: Congrats to All!

#1 Post by klewis »

I finally got a chance to check out my email. I just wanted to applaud all those who participated. There were a lot of great articles out there. Also now that IL has won the All-Star game and Writing Challenge, hopefully we can get a clean sweep by getting the Rodriguez Cup next!

Geez he named the championship trophy after himself? :D No, no ego there!

Ugh, you see what you guys did? Somebody please explain to Rudel that I had absolutely no part in the naming of our championship trophy! I'm thoroughly embarrassed now.

What we did? A nice little piece of revisionist history from the guy who demanded that his name grace the championship trophy as "a permanent token of [our] appreciation" for your service as commish. A nice try to play that off as something we did, like it was a surprise birthday present, but I'm blowing the whistle and Rudel's not falling for it.

Happy Valentine's Day John!

Although I enjoy Joel's take, the real story is that the league named the trophy the Rodriguez Cup over loud protests by John. There was a vote and everything. You can dig up the old thread.

Creating a league like this takes a tremendous ammount of hours. Everything in the game can be named after him and it would not bother me. :)

Well, I remember some sort of vote, but John never did explain how there were 78 votes for Rodriguez cup when we only had 24 teams...

Oh, and if you think that's a lot of words, you should see the NaNoWriMo annual contest...my brother has attempted a couple of times and succeeded at least once. I realize we're not writing novels here, but it's tough. And I think we did a heckuva job writing that many words and articles that were so varied and interesting.

That would cause a bit of confusion, I think. "Rodriguez, champions of the Rodriguez League, face off against the Rodriguez League's pennant winners Rodriguez in this year's battle for the Rodriguez Cup..." :-B
