Hector in my opinion doesn't play with enough flash

That's not good news to the Badger's playoff hopes.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I sure do hope that OOTP Football is on the horizon.

Sometimes, I just vote against the guys I dont like or whose owners have made obnoxious or patronizing campaigns for them. Mostly, I just scan the leauge rolls for players who get a huge contract bonus for winning the award, and then vote for them. It's a fun way to help myself come free agent season.

Yeah! I was thinking how cool it would be. They could have a ton of different packages for different philosophies on offense and defense, and then we GMs could try to fill our roster to match these and win. That and all the details with contracts, scouting, and coaching would be awesome.

2009 Rookie of the YEAR

1B Yong-zhan Hu, CHA versus SS Raul Garcia, KAL

A battle of great power versus outstanding speed. Both have great numbers in the field. Its a tough decision the drawback I see with Garcia is lack of pop, but star SS's are rare. A sticking point with Hu is that he has played a lot of games at DH, which probably isn't an issue to some. All in all, it should be a nail biter. If I am leaving a worthwhile candidate out...let me know!

If they were to go head-to-head for this award though, I think Garcia deserves it more. He's a great defensive SS, gets on base and has 53 stolen bases. He's also got a solid lead in Vorp.

Hu has had a pretty nice rookie campaign though. His 22 HRs, and outstanding .298 BA and .525 slg w/ RISP (2 grand slams!) are a treat to watch in the replays. He really does come through in big RBI opportunities. He's hitting .252 with a .400 slg otherwise, and pretty streaky month to month.

Your former farm hand Kien-lung Hsiao is off to a fast start for London as well. You'd have to wonder if his Vorp would be higher than Hu's had he started the season at the major league level.

How do you watch replays?
Go to the "Schedule" page and browse to the day of the game you want to watch, then click the "View Replay" link for the game. I watch all my games between each sim.

Some free time on my hands, so I thought I'd take a look at how I'd cast my ballot as of right now. A number in parenthesis indicates that the player has won the award multiple times (including my vote here).

Imperial League
Royal Raker: Jeff Cline, NO
Golden Arm: Conan McCullough, NO (3)
Wunderkind: Yong-zhan Hu, CST (obligatory  )

All-Leather Team:
C - Jefferey Graham, CST
1B - Domingo DeJesus, MAN (2)
2B - Mark Richardson, FLA (3)
3B - Michael Kelly, MAN (3)
SS - Angel Zarate, MAN
LF - Cal Edwards, NJ
CF - Mario Hernandez, ARL
RF - Kenny Parker, NJ (easily the most competitive category. I could justify giving this to four different players)
P - Minoru Hashimoto, KEN

Sovereign League
Royal Raker: Pat Lilly, BAK (2)
Golden Arm: John Roach, AUR (2)
Wunderkind: Raul Garcia, KAL

All-Leather Team:
C - Jose Sousa, KAL
1B - Billy Krause, REN
2B - Roy Benthall, BAK (2)
3B - Bob Peterson, BAK (2)
SS - Hector Castillo, PS
LF - Steve Pierce, YUM
CF - Jack Miller, CAN
RF - Donnie Sutton, PS (2)
P - Juan Roman, TEM

Holy crap, Manchester has a good infield.

Interesting that you mention defense; I've been reading lately how there's a resurgence of MLB teams placing value on defense. The tide had turned so heavily to valuing offense above all else with the dawning of the Steroids Era. I don't know if it's a backlash against that or what, but you do notice some of these stick-over-glove types like Adam Dunn, Bobby Abreu and Manny Ramirez are having trouble getting what they want in this market.

Holy crap, Manchester has a good infield.
And that doesn't include Glen Hester at 2b, who, in spite of his fractured skull, could probably still outplay anybody else on my roster!
