So that means we do not have an award equivalent to the MVP? Other than MVP, I wouldn't mind seeing a Silver Slugger award similar to the All-Leather for each position.

Back on the topic of catchers.... I don't put much stock into catching ERA either when it comes to voting. I'd give it some consideration if it was a real life vote. But for OOTP, Markus has already stated catchers do not influence a pitching staff's ERA.

All this discussion and debating is fun and all, but we still have plenty of games to go. So every player still has a chance to prove they are worthy of the All-Leather award.

The Royal Raker goes to the best hitter in each league. It's solely a hitting-based award.

No, at least at this time we don't have an MVP award. I suppose it's possible to add one. OOTP actually allows for one custom award to be handed out in-game.

I'd personally advise against it. The way we separate offense and defense (and hitting and pitching) is ideal to me and avoids the Pandora's Box of what "most valuable" means.

I'd have to give my man Quincy Van Tiggelen the nod for All-Leather at C, because he plays for the Codgers; old people naturally have more leathery skin. :D

And we can't overlook the facts that he has 1) and awesome name and 2) a double chin, two attributes which are well-known contributors to great defense.

We'll see how he deals with Garcia and Phillips in the final leg of our series

Unless Sousa kicks it up a notch, meaning he maintains his caught stealing % with an increased amount of attempts...
I hope teams choose to run freely against him. It would be a fun experiment...anyone up to the challenge? I got the Codgers, Warriors, and Cyclones coming up...just adjust your strategies accordingly if you want to test him :D . But be careful over the course of his career he has thrown out over 47% of runners.

I'd like to add that I think the reason Sousa isn't getting run on is in fact his defense. Only the best of runners will even attempt to steal a base on him - which is why his CS% is lower - because only the real burners run on him.

My support is my catcher in another league Navarro Charba who is a 10 arm, 10 error and 10 rating (its a 1-10 scale in that league). His CS% is only 27% but looking around the league - guys run on him WAY less than on other catchers.

Catchers in my Division
MY C Charba (10 arm) - 62 Games, 33 SB Attempts, 27% Throwout, 2 errors
Team B Catcher (6 arm) - 70 games, 114 SB Attempts, 29% Throwout, 3 errors
Team C Catcher (8 arm) - 64 games, 89 SB Attempts, 31% Throwout, 3 errors
Team D Catcher (8 arm) - 72 Games, 87 SB Attempts, 29% Throwout, 6 errors

To me - this means that the AI is smart - it will not run as much on good catchers, and it will go crazy with SB attempts on bad ones. I'd much rather have my guy than any of the other catchers because he eliminates the effect of a running game. Seems to be the same effect Sousa has.

That's some good stuff. What is the name of the league and division in case I want to quote this in an article.

Is your kamikazee logo an image of after the crash? lol. It's cool.

Hey David - I sent you a PM with the info you were asking for.

And yeah - its supposed to be an image of the boat expoding after a Kamikaze pilot flys into it. Credit should not be given to me though - I pulled it from the OOTP Mods forum, they've got some good stuff there.

Somebody didn't read How to Win Friends and Influence People. Keep in mind that the point of the argument here is to win the other guy over your side, not bludgeon him to death with your rightness. Votes on things like this, just like in real life, are as much a popularity contest as anything else. Just something to ponder.

To keep this going...in the future I will throw up a few candidates for awards like 2B All-Leather for example. But, you guys don't have to wait for me if you feel compelled yourself.

How did Hector Castillo get left off the list and Raul Garcia make it? I do agree that George Taylor deserves a look though. 8)
