Last call for live All-Star Game interest

#1 Post by John »

As mentioned in the recent mailings, I'm open to broadcasting the 2009 All-Star Game live from my desktop via Yugma. Those that have attended to live Planetary Extreme Championship broadcasts know how much fun this can be. At this time, however, only 2 owners have contacted me regarding their interest in a live ASG broadcast. I'd need at least 5 commitments to make setting it up worthwhile.

If you would like to watch the All-Star Game live Thursday night @ 9 PM ET, let me know before the end of Wednesday! Otherwise I'll skip on the broadcast and the game will be simmed like any normal game. Hopefully there will be some interest... I'd love to get a few of you together to chat while the game is going on!

I strongly recommend that everyone who reads this and has the time signs up. I've attended broadcasts of the postseason games and they're a great time for all.

If you're new to the league, don't miss this opportunity! You won't regret it. 8)

Unfortunately there wasn't enough demand for a live broadcast, so we're going to do it the old-fashioned way tonight. Well, not entirely... I'm actually going to do a live blog of the game as it happens here on the forum. My goal is to get rolling around 8:30 PM ET or so - we'll see if I can actually make that target time. :P So if you'd like to follow the All-Star action, tune into the forums this evening and enjoy my recounting of the game!

I apologize for not having announce the All-Stars yet. We have two owners who have still to cast their ballots, and with several races down to the wire (particularly in the SL) I want to provide them with time to vote. I haven't yet decided on a cutoff time... hopefully it won't come to that.

One thing of note: All-Star rosters will be expanding this year from 29 to 30 players in order to allow one backup at each offensive position. Even with the expansion, I'm going to warn you in advance: some deserving players are in jeopardy of not making the team. Isn't that the way with these things every time? But like I said, there are still two owners left to vote and their votes most certainly can make an impact, so it's not too late to do some last-minute campaigning!

I just signed on to announce my availability for a live broadcast, and see that it's been canceled....ugh. Unfortunately with my schedule (or lack of one?) I rarely know well in advance whether or not I will be available. Anyway, will hang around for the blog.

I'm afraid we're past the time when it would be plausible to set it up. Hopefully my account of the game will be sufficiently interesting for those around tonight. :D
