Tempe News: Ticket Prices Slashed for September

#1 Post by Alan Ehlers »

9/9/2008: Crystal Lake, IL – Knights GM Chris Van Hauter announced that the team has slashed ticket prices to $7.00 for the rest of the season. Van Hauter believes with the cut in prices more people will show up at the park and see the future stars of the organization. The GM was quoted as saying, "Once we get them in here they hopefully will load up on merchandise, concessions and so on. And most important: feel like they are in on the ground floor of a special ball club.”

Van Hauter's prediction of a .500 record is out the window but he’s still upbeat, stating, “We are going to wind up 20 games better then last year and that is a good start.” Next year the first goal is to, "…get a left-handed first basemen with some pull." If the Knights can acquire such a player then 90 wins is not an impossible dream. Van Hauter put it this way, "Last year we were terrible. The organization was a mess, the stadium looked like the aftermath of a Poison concert, and at every level we looked Mickey Mouse. Teams this year had a few surprises playing Tempe and they will be in for more next year as Tempe continues to rise.”

Van Hauter also stated that the rotation you see in September will be the one that will start next year. It will be Hancock, Hunter, Taylor, Collins, and either Reynolds or Hanlon. Van Hauter is also happy about the acquisitions of Grymes and Mora, who have 9 homeruns combined.

The GM also staged what the organization called the "midnight massacre", dropping Randy Davis, Rod Craig and several others who were arbitration-eligible.

There is a team on the rise gentlemen and it is coming from the West… so beware.
