The Neat:

Finally won a series vs Aurora with the 12 inning series finale win. McCoy with another stellar start, 6IP, 2R, 6ks but it was O'Slattery earning the win with 3 shut out innings.

Hyun-Seung Kim has been stellar since his callup. He has surrenders 1 run in 10.1 innings of relief with 9k's and 5W.

Antonio Canseco loves Codgers field hitting .302 with a .340OBP and 7HRs since joining the team.

The Not so Neat:

A month of facing tougher competition has made it clear the Codgers need an upgrade to their 4th and possibly 5th slot in the starting rotation.

Antonio Mesegue is hitting a putrid .178 since his arrival in Palm Springs and is in danger of not earning a contract extension with the Codgers, a team desperate for catching.

A 3-3 SIM, still 3 games out of .500.

The NEAT: Best sim of the year so far for New Orleans. The Trendies went 5-2 and got some nice starts from Joe Arnold and David Saenz in his first action back from being banished to AAA, Down on the farm, Marcos Jimenex, the Trendsetters #1 pick, was named the IBC PoTW going 11-for-22 with 5 HR and 11 RBI. Li-Zhu Ho is back from the IL and will make his first start next sim and finally SP, Nathan Gallard is finally healthy and will make a pair of Rehab starts in AAA before joining t he New Orleans rotation.

The NOT SO NEAT: Gabriel Santos seems to have lost all his juice. He has not homered in almost two months and while his OBP is still solid, his BA is down to .243. This season he has picked up the defense, improving his skills in RF and CF. Hyung-On Che suffered his first loss of the season vs. the Homer Wallbangers. This mars his record, though he is still 9-1

The Neat:
P Nate Comyn bounced back with a quality start after getting smacked for 9 hits and 5 runs last SIM. 7.1IP 4H, 0R in the 2=0 loss to Bakersfield

LF Adam Barnes had a day against Reno going 4 for 5 scoring 4 runs and 2 RBIs a stolen base. Barnes was acquired from New Jersey for a 4th round pick and has been a solid pick up

The Not so Neat:
A 1-4 SIM dropping to 6 games under .500

CL Richardo Pineda blew just his 2nd save of the year wasting a McCoy quality start. 1IP, 4H, 3R

Happy to see Barnes doing well! Always wanted him to succeed but just never had the space for him.

NEAT: Two good sims in a row going 3-1 until snapping a 7 game win streak with a loss to Charleston. This was the longest win streak in the short time I have controlled New Orleans.

Also, Nathan Gallard threw 4 scoreless innings in his first rehab start. He will likely make one more start before returning.

NOT SO NEAT: Gabriel Santos power shortage in A ball continues. Very odd.

The NEAT: New Orleans has won four in a row and 11 of its last 12. The Trendies did manage to go 17-11 in August. David Saenz picked up the IL Rookie of the month award with a solid August. Down on the farm at Rookie level Bridgeport, William Fairlie was the IBC Player of the week with 5 HR and is now posting a .308/29/69 line.

The NOT SO NEAT: The big league club woke up about four months too late as they are still 28 games under .500 and 54 GB first place Florida.

Am I the only one who posts here?

The NEAT: It’s pretty much all down on the farm, though Nathan Gallard had a nice return to the Trendsetters rotation allowing 1 run on 3 hits over 7.1 innings in a 1-0 loss to San Antonio.

Takafumi Samurakami was named the POW in the IBC Rookie Ball league. Samurakami went 9-19 with 6 HR and 11 RBI. On the season he is batting .299 with 35 HR and 63 RBI in just 66 games! The first thing management plans to do with Takafumi Samurakami in the offseason is get him a much shorter nickname to refer to him by.

Despite being in 4th place in their fivision at A ball, Ensenada locked up a wild card spot as the three wil card spots went to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams in the division. It looks like the three lowest levels in the Trendsetters system will all reach the post season, an indicator of the improvement in New Orleans player development.

The NOT SO NEAT? After winning 11 of 12, New Orleans dropped four in a row. The New Orleans lineup has become chock full of players with little pop and little speed. Ricardo Rojas and Bob Dodson lead the team with 16 HR each, but the Trendsetters are still last in stolen bases.

In a season that is mostly Not So Neat, the Borealis continue to hold off that .500 line - a place the Borealis have never been below this late in the season (much less August or July or June), playing seemingly WLWLWLWL ball. Leading the way this September has been rookie call-up Mark Newton.

Newton was the 70th over all pick in 2036 (3rd round) and has quickly moved through the system - hitting .303 in 131 games at Thornton this season, and currently in 7-games with Aurora is 12-28, with 5-2B, 5 R, 4 RBI and 3 SB. He's auditioning for that one position you really want power: DH - with 12 career HR in his pro career.

So Aurora...

All of the best is in the minors. New Orleans is in the middle of a 10 game losing streak (OUCH).

In the minors all three of my lower minor league teams are heading for the post season and my A team in Ensenada has a 3-1 lead in the Wild Card series.

Takafumi Samurakami now has 38 HR and is batting over .300 in Rookie Ball and joins Marco Jimenez, William Fairlie and Edward Derrick in the 20+ HR club in rookie ball.

Rypsei “Goofy” Shiroi has not been goofing around this year. With a 9-3 record and a paltry 2.24 ERA the 19 year old has become the ace of the staff. His hard work has paid off as he has seen his potential increase. His future may be in the bullpen, but don’t be surprised if the Trendsetters send him to Winter Ball eventually to develop another pitch and give him a better shot to stay in the rotation.

Neat:
4-3 SIM, now 7 games from .500.

Recent callup Javier Cervantes is hitting .324 with a .368 OBP and will move into a starting spot for the remainder of the season.

Yamamoto with another stellar outing, 8.1IP, 5H, 0R, 3Ks in a 17-0 win against Madison preventing the 4 game sweep

Not so neat:
Start the SIM with a 5 game winning streak only to drop 3 consecutive to Madison. It's been feast or famine in Palm Springs

Okinawa with the 6-0 sim (after a 1-5 sim that I refused to even look at!) to push our playoff odds to 95%. Feasting on that .430 opponents average for the final 6 weeks to hopefully secure a spot in the dance.

Warriors Nation is becoming excited. A 3-3 result last week included winning 2 of 3 over Kalamazoo to extend our division lead to 5.5 games with 12 remaining.

This is a fun team. Juan Velasquez is approaching 100 SBs. Rookie Dave Docherty is 3rd in the SL in both slugging percentage and OPS. Antonio Herrera is in the batting title hunt and on the leaderboard in several categories. Staff ace Rene Padilla is 17-5 and in contention for post-season honors.

NEAT: The losing streak is over. The streak was snapped by a 4-1 win over Charleston on the 18th.

NOT SO NEAT: The streak was snapped on the last game of the sim meaning that it reached a season crushing 15 games before it ended.

In other news, The single A Ensenada team made it to the playoffs as the final wild card team and even won their wild card round before losing in the 2nd round to the Mexicali Schmoes.

Anchorage in SA has also locked up their division and the Flying Fish in Rookie Ball continue to hold a one game lead in their division.
