New Orleans Trendsetters reveal new logo and new look

(NEW ORLEANS) Instead of walk-off homers it was catwalk posers. Rather than hot dogs and beer it was, well, hot dogs and beer. But the crowd was pretty swanky anyways. Today, the New Orleans Trendsetters revealed a new look to replace the 32-year-old logo and uniform. Gone was the orange, blue and brown colors that polarized so much of the city, nation, planet and universe. In its place was a new color scheme of gold, purple and green. The colors chosen to honor the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition. Gone was the old logo, a black pimp with a fedora, shades and a gold tooth. Relegated to the clearance rack to give way for the new logo, a voodoo doll’s head with a smile made of baseball seams and, in a last salute to the old logo, a fedora with a green pin.

That was not the only surprise for Trendies. The new color scheme has resulted in new updated uniforms for the upcoming season. The home uniform will be gold with purple pinstripes top and bottom with Trendsetters in script across the front tilting up with the new logo underneath on the left side. The pants will be yellow with purple pinstripes and feature a purple belt as well. The cap will see some changes as a new purple cap featuring the new logo front and center as well as gold horizontal stripes, a slight nod to the 70’s Pirates caps.

According to owner Jack Cobb, the change was long overdue. “Every team needs to revitalize their fans and we had not done that in a number of years. We also felt the new logo further establishes our ties to the community with references to the New Orleans Mardi Gras as well as the deep tradition of the Voodoo religion in New Orleans. We wanted to acknowledge the past logo, so we added the fedora like the old logo had. We were going to make beads a part of the uniform, but the players kept stripping off their jersey and showing their chest.” Finally, Cobb addressed the unique cap. It is a bit of a throwback. Our General Manager, Chuck Valenches was a huge fan of Al Oliver of the 70’s Pirates and Kent Tekulve. The horizontal stripes were his suggestion. We hope this new hat design starts a new trend in the PEBA” Cobb finished to loud groans. Cobb did add that merchandise will available as soon as a few finishing touches are put on the uniforms.

As Cobb finished addressing the crowd of sponsors and VIP members, he finished with a promise. “This will not be the end of the changes here at New Frontier Park,” said Cobb. “We have added a special dining area on the Loge Level for our Skybox holders that will feature a dining room run by Brennan’s restaurant. We have also changed up the offerings at the ballpark with the addition of Mai Tai hand grenades (a concoction of vodka, rum, gin and melon liqueur) available at concessions stands with its own take-home hand grenade cup.
