Something in the "neat" category for the Claymores and Aberdeen Golden Sands, SP Thomas Connolly threw a no hitter his last outing against the Fayetteville Braggarts. Connolly struck out 13 Braggarts on the day and only surrendered two walks. Cutting down on the walks is the only thing holding Connolly back from PEBA competition, so it was nice to see him showing progress in that area. If Connolly keeps this up, he'll be facing PEBA hitters soon.

To be fair, the Braggarts are hitting .199 as a team.

An 8-3 start to the year is awfully Neat, and powered by four individuals who are off to a great start:

- Free Agent signee, Rocky Kowalski (George Crocker hasn't dubbed him the 'Flying Squirrel' yet - but just you wait) has started with a .368, 4-2B, a triple and homer - though he's only driven in 4 and scored four; both of those facts may center around where he's been hitting in the lineup - and that may require some tweaking. Four walks and a .419 OB (1.024 OPS)... Neat-O...
- Angel Silva is hitting .390, 3-2B and a home, 11 R and 6 RBI with a number of clutch hits already - plus he's 8-9 in SB... Neat-a-rooney...
- Raul Munoz has continued his hot finish to 2037 and started 2038 on the same roll, hitting .409, 4-2B and a homer, 10 RBI - and after posting just a 0.9 WAR last year, already is at 0.7... Neatness...
- 'Matchbox' had an outstanding 2037 - a salary drive to get his team option picked up, and now it's a salary drive to get that FA $$$ - he's off to a .412 start (his best to start the season with Aurora, I believe, with 7-2B and a homer - though just 5 RBI. 7 BB, 3 K and a 1.229 OPS (2nd best in the SL)... Neatly Sweet...

But then the rest of the order falls off a cliff: 'Litterbug' and Simmons are at .225 - both with a homer, and for Arundale a homer is amazing, for someone who had 6 total in 8 previous seasons...Aleman (.189), de la Cruz (.188), Ortega (.167) and Qing (.100) are not doing their job and are Not-NOt-NOT So Neat... Ortega better watch it, as Juan Rodriguez is 4-7 and 3-3 on SB...

The biggest concern pitching-wise has been the performance of 'Lanza', who has 11.2 IP over 2 GS and allowed 13 H (3 HR) and 11 R. He has 9 K and 6 BB - and the walks have always been a concern that they'd get out of control. He had 4 in his last start against the Yumans, and two scored...No, Not So Neat...

Lastly, Not So Neat? An early trip to Japan to face the Win-D's and Shisa - Better make sure the bats got backed...

Kentucky's offense and pitching is definitely benefitting from a 'soft' schedule to start.

Backup OF/1b Takaki has 11 hits in his first 17 at bats for a .647 batting average.

DH Gore leads the PEBA in homers (10), RBI (33), SLG (.833), OPS (1.293), Doubles (10) - his 33 RBI are 8 more than 2nd place

SS Honma set a team record with 4 homers and 9RBI's in a single game on april 25 vs Manchester.

The game previous Dan Gore tied a Kentucky record with 7 RBi in one game. His record lasted for 1 game.

Honma, Bermudez and Gore.combined for 3 grand slam homers over the past 2 games.

New FA signing Louis Kassan is 2nd in the PEBA in batting average (.388),

4 of the top 5 leaders in runs scored are from Kentucky.

All this.will.change once we start playing the Florida's, London's, Scottish's and WV's of the league

Well, after a bad stumble out of the gate by the Leones, ownership ripped up the script. Fired the Pitching Coach and Manager who weren't simply up to the standard expected in Havana. Initial returns suggest the message has been received but we won't really know until the end of May after we get a tour of the Trans Atlantic division. These boys are going to play to their potential even if it kills them. :angry-cussingblack:

Dennis Bauer has an 0-2 record and 2 BS in 4 appearances to go along with his 12.46 ERA. He's been informed of his demotion to AAA effective immediately.

2034 5th round pick Cecil Langley will be promoted to replace him. The 22 year old will be making his PEBA debut after throwing 30.1 innings in AAA this year with a 2.67 ERA and 143 ERA+.

In other news I am trying out Norm Batstone as a two-way player again this year. So far at the plate in 14 appearances he is batting .462 with two doubles and an RBI. The experiment has not hurt his pitching as he has a 1.46 ERA and 274 ERA+. Obviously the batting numbers aren't sustainable but it would be nice if we could get him to contribute there as a backup DH.

At least it was a winning sim overall - the Transatlantic is on a razer's edge so far with first to fourth decided by just 2.5 games.

We shall see over time if trading G-Rod was the right move, but for now Silva, Kowalski and 'Matchbox' are lighting it up. The rest of the club - especially the rotation...?? Not So Much. Aurora certainly picked the wrong time for a 2-5 sim, are Reno has caught fire...

Very few guys opted out of their minor league deals with major options this year. Was not expecting that.

Masamichi Daikawa - the beneficiary of G-Rod heading to the east coast, hit the road a tad slow, but has picked it up and is hitting .319 over 19 games, with a tidy .375 vL split, and 8-9 in SB; that time at winter ball working on his base running seems to have helped... Angel Silva (.396, 35-44 in SB) and 'The Flying Squirrel' (.357, .1.029 OPS) both continue to lead the club and should be leading contenders for the ASG... Neat!!

Okinawa with 116 HRs through 57 games.

We knew we were going to hit a lot of Home Runs.. we didnt think we would have a 31HR lead over the 2nd team.

Antonio Santos has hit 7 homers in his last 7 games - including 3 vs NO this sim. After a slow start he is now on pace for 38 homers.
Not overly surprising, but all 15 of his homers have come against RH pitchers.

Backup OF/IF Yataro Takaki went 2 for 9 this sim, dropping his average. He is now 31 for 73 on the season for a .437 average and has a 1.4 War. Not bad for a backup who I would have been happy with a .250ish average.

Well, I did something I have never done before in OOTP. I drafted a player and immediately put him on the big league roster. Fingers crossed that Anthony Soame is as ready as he looks.
