Total newbie to PEBA Lorenzo Valdez is having a great ST.

.667/.741/1.476. 15 hits. 5 HR. 14 RBI. Only 2 K's.

Wonder how this will translate to the regular season.

NOT SO NEAT: Yuma is still unable to place an injured player on the IL. Is this an OOTP23 glitch? Can anyone else move players to their IL? Or is this some anti-Yuman conspiracy?

.....Man... a 4-9 start screams Not So Neat, but with a deeper dive there are some Neat Nuggets:

- Richard Neely in two starts has a 0.96 ERA, and the oft-coveted Martin Gutierrez has thrown 6.1 scoreless innings over 4 appearances on 3 hits - OK, technically 3 unearned runs scored, but... Still Neat...
- Ryan Tate, who missed most of last year, has been near perfect over three innings, with 3 K and a hit.
- 'Matchbox' is hitting .615 - Neat - but in the Neat-O category is Manuel Pagan, who was at Mokule'ia last year, is hitting .438 in 16 AB.
- The battle for 2B has Ed Madore hitting .312 and Juan Rodriguez .351, and for the record - David Simmons, who as a September call-up was the SL Player of the Month of September, is hitting .300 - giving hope that the Aurora infield is finally ready to pull it's weight.
- Then again, The Munoz' (Raul, .261) and Tony (.167) find themselves at the bottom of the offensive chart.

Happy to see Rubio getting an opportunity and seizing it. We reluctantly parted with him as part of the Tony Velazquez deal last offseason. He’s an Intriguing guy as a bit of a tweener both at the dish and off the mound, but as with all two way players, has tempting value (both from a storytelling and on-field perspective).

Final four games of the spring will be used to prep the rotation, as well as get some final extended looks at some guys such as 1B Xavier Wert and RF Adam Barnes. Also, final tune ups on new position training, and keeping as many guys as possible healthy for the start of the year.

Lost a couple arms last sim, RP Félix Reyes out a month, and I am not taking any chances with SP Orlando Trujillo's sprained ankle. He will sit/rest till the season begins.

My final four games was to showcase the rotation too, unfortunately they suffered our only injury of the 2036 ST in the second game. the Not So Neat part of that is that the injury was to the PEBA #2 prospect, Bartolo Mojica. He will now have to miss the first month of the season while he waits for his major league debut.

Not much neat stuff in Calzone's opening week :angry-cussingblack: Both the PEBA side and Triple-A Joplin opened up 1-6

Two little gems though, Rule 5 pick Miguel Martinez started hitting .455/.500/.1000 with three homers and 10 RBI ( a faint glimpse of hope, expect a 1-24 in week two) and the franchise's #4 prospect, Ron Green, pitched his first ever Double-A game and came away with a complete-game 1-hit shutout, allowing two walks while striking out nine.

Second week wasn't a bundle of laughs for San Antonio either, at least we did manage a .500 week somehow though. In Charleston during the second innings on April 15th two Rule 5ers, Manuel Mojica & Guillermo Benitez, plus Manuel Santos all hit homers, tallying five runs. The first time I've ever had three homers in a single innings for the Calzones, didn't matter though as six runs surrendered in the fifth innings took that game away.

One record San Antonio did set though was thanks to our extension of Elysian Fields. Our 2036 home opener against Kentucky attracted a crowd of 47,609 which is now the new attendance record, having only had a capacity of 45,000 last year.

A shite week for the minor leagues too; Monterey pitcher Ron Green who pitched a complete game 1-hit shutout in week one came back to earth in week two. He made two starts, gave up eight hits in ea, ch, a total of 11 runs and took two losses - welcome to Double-A.
