46 and Counting

February 20, 2036:

The Tempe Knights baseball club issued a statement this morning announcing the completion of an expanded left field seating area at GD Field, in response to continued high demand for tickets from the once fickle fanbase. As the club has begun to shows incremental steps towards competitiveness following a 72 win campaign in 2035, Knights brass is anticipating record level demand for tickets and has continued their relentless march towards another PEBA monster stadium.

The controversial expansion to the left field seating deck includes the construction of a third deck over the upper deck concourse which will accommodate another 3,000 Knights supporters in time for the '36 season. Along with the expanded seating, the club has brought in several new concessionaires to keep fans distracted while the team continues to flounder on the field. In addition to new food offerings, the hugely popular, team-owned GD Distillery will be opening their second location within the stadium and has found a way to nestle a glass-walled structure into the facade of the new deck. The latest GD Distillery will open with limited seating (by reservation only) and promises splendid views of the Mill River bridge and surrounding Tempe skyline, though there is no direct view to the field.

As noted earlier however, the expansion of the left field seating area does come at a cost as some views from behind home plate, from the upper deck seating areas will now be obstructed from their previous sightlines direct into downtown Tempe. While some fans may have their feelings hurt over this newest addition to GD Field, the continuing march of spectators into the stadium has not relented as yet, and the club figures to continue expanding the size of GD Field until it can hold no more.
