Changes in Kentucky

#1 Post by Board of the PEBA »

I wanted to take a moment and announce a change to the PEBA roster that is a sad day. Kentucky GM, Duane Rudis has informed me that he will be stepping aside after 27-PEBA seasons. I have had a number of conversations with Duane over the past year and change, and I will respect his privacy - though I hope he will chime in here - but I felt it important to let the group know ahead of time, and not just see an in-game message.

Duane has been an outstanding member of the League, and I will be sorry to see him go. Duane was the person who first mentioned to me about being Commish (multiple times), and gave me the confidence to take the plunge when the time was right. I thank Duane for having the confidence in me.

You will no doubt hear from our new GM over the next 24-48 hours, and I think we have an excellent candidate to fill some big shoes.

Hopefully Duane will not be a stranger and we will hear from him periodically, and as always, when the time comes, we look forward to welcoming him back into the fold.

I met Duane in another league which led me to finding PEBA and joining up a few years ago. I will never forget the weekly updates of what big meal he was grilling and his open invite if I was ever in the area.

While the time isn't right for you now, if you get the PEBA itch again you are always welcome back. Don't be a stranger and check in once in a while!

In-game, Duane Rudis leaves the Thoroughbreds with a lifetime 2201-2174 (.503) record and has surely earned a statue outside of the ballpark.

Best of luck Duane in all your future endeavors! I remember the old IL rivalry days between Nee Jersey and Kentucky and I was happy to cheer for the Thoroughbreds as you guys starting becoming a force when New Jersey was starting to take its steps backwards.

You were able to build a consistent playoff presence that should be the envy of any GM.

I even did take you up on the BBQ offer, I’d say 10 or so years ago at this point!

Once again, you will be missed, I wish you the best, and hurry back now!

Duane, you will be missed. We didn't have many conversations lately, but the ones we did were always nice. You have been a great owner in KY and I hope we can see you back in future. Also hope life treats you great going forward.

Very sorry to see you go, Duane. You are one of the all-time PEBA greats.

I hope everything in your real life is OK, or at least moving in that direction.

There are an awful lot of guys here who will miss you and are pulling for you.

Sorry to hear this. I have fond memories of chatting about my team with Duane, he was always genuinely interested in helping me and Reno improve.

I have no words other than that this is a very sad day. As far as I'm concerned, Duane, you're an institution around these parts. I hope you won't be a stranger.

Calling Duane a PEBA legend is no exaggeration. Can we vote RL GMs to the Hall of Fame?

Just chiming in to say that while I understand--this game takes a huge commitment--I am gutted this is happening. Duane is a very close to original member here and has guided Kentucky through every season of the PEBA's existence. He has brought so much to the league, and I am sad to see him go.

Sorry that I'm late to this one. But definitely will miss Daune. He is a legend of the league. Thanks for you all you did to help build PEBA.
