Imperial League

Seaboard
1. West Virginia - Obviously great looking team. They will get on base, steal second, hit doubles and triples and confuddle the opposing squads with their pitching. It will be very hard to beat the Alleghenies.
2. Hartford - It seems as though Hartford is retreating a bit, letting Mark Edwards, Tom Patton, and Shirai walk. Their rotation looks pretty solid, but to me the key losses are Mark Edwards and Shirai. This team looks to perform pretty similarly as it did last year but with $40m less in expenses... seems like Hartford may be deploying some of their extra millions in the international market this coming season. We'll see.
3. Manchester - I think the Maulers are going to surprise some people. I like their young squad and think that they can over perform expectations. They have a great outfield core and some really interesting players at impact locations. I think they end up somewhere close to .500.
4.Arlington - Signed Shirai to a 1 year deal in the off-season. Probably not enough to get them close to a playoff berth, but does mark a turning point for a franchise that almost out of the quagmire.

Dixie
1. Florida - I like the stock.
2. San Antonio - SA is only getting better. They have some really nice bats -- obviously the rotation is suspect but I don't think that necessarily means they're not going to win a lot of games. Playoffs? Maybe, but it'll be hard to out perform some combination of Hartford, San Juan, Havana, Amsterdam, and Kentucky.
3. Kentucky - Kentucky is always quiet, but they really need to find a way to provide an influx of talent if they want to continue to compete.
4. New Orleans - Steady as she goes... Maybe GM Leblanc has been busy racing the Streets Casino and Holdings stock car to focus on his other endeavors???
5. Charleston - Mike Robinson is hurt again :(. I hope he can figure it out. I really like the guy.

Trans Atlantic
1. Havana - Never bet against Ricardo Mateo and Co. The team is largely the same as last year's which went to the IL championship. I expect to see them back this next year.
2. Amsterdam - Big money spent. Amsterdam looks scary on paper -- they'll be with Havana every step of the way.
3. San Juan - The sprinting frogs will continue to steal at will this year. Mike does such a good job of wringing out every bit of talent from his squad every year -- I expect this year to be no different. Their biggest area of improvement seems to be their rotation. Ray Medrano and Jose Gomez should hold down the fort if they're ahead, but after Shimada and McKnight, the options start to get a little suspect. I am looking forward to seeing how they perform.
4. London - Evan is slowly accumulating some interesting pieces to compete, but until CF Jose Cruz and 1B Rocky Nichols are ready to compete, they don't seem to have a ton of character. I like their rotation a fair amount actually and think they will have a pretty successful staff.
5. Scotland - This team is ready for a makeover. It will be interesting to see what direction Camrin decides to take the team in -- they have a trio of top-rated pitchers in the lower minors and some bats that look like they can come on strong. This is a rebuilding project that is relegated to fifth in the Trans Atlantic, but there's good stuff coming for Claymore-faithful.

Sovereign League

Great Lakes
1. Crystal Lake - RJ's had a pretty quiet off-season, but I think that makes sense for him and his squad. He was one inning away from winning the Great Lakes last year, and I think that they have the pieces to win.
2. Kalamazoo - Probably the best rotation in 2033. Jaime gets the pleasure of returning all-galaxy starter Cheong-Sang Yun and bolster him with Sang-hyuk Pak, Brendan Clymo, and Ogai Ono... "stacked" doesn't quite cut it. So why are they ranked behind Crystal Lake? Their bullpen. Right now, that is their weakest link and with three of their starters having below average stamina, that bullpen is going to get a workout. Also poor Claudio Perez can't seem to stay healthy. Get better, young Claudio!
3. Fargo - Christian leads a great looking roster into the season, but with not enough moves to set his team above the rest... but maybe he doesn't need to. At this point the specter of P*t W*tson's injury history looms large. IF he's healthy, Fargo is near the top of not only the Great Lakes but the entire SL... the problem is obviously just that. They have so many great bats though that this will be a dynamic offense -- getting even better with the incoming Tony Mireles. Boy, I'm glad that kid's in the SL.
4. Duluth - Swinging for the fences this year, Scott's setting the Warriors up for... something. They have a team that can hit OK and they have an interesting 1-2 punch with Eric Elliot and Orlando Trujillo, but their bullpen is lacking but they have some incoming rooks by way of Antonio Herrera, Jacob Gill, and Gary Murphy that seems to me to be their path towards a new dawn of the Warriors franchise.
5. Madison - You may be seeing a trend here in the Great Lakes with their über prospect: Pablo Garza. Obviously already about a year and a half in, he's not really a prospect but man is he fun. I really like the team that Mike's built around Garza, but the question is will they win a lot of games? I think the answer is, actually, yes. More than last year for sure. I think they're in fifth place but they definitely have some pieces. The question is to what to do with those pieces? It'll be interesting to see how management decides to treat this season.

Desert Hills
1. Reno - Scott's team is led by their formidable rotation, anchored by the ever-excellent Kenny Ashley, the Reno Zephyrs will continue to blow over the competition in 2033. 2032 marked the first time this franchise broke the 100-win mark and I'd imagine they will win even more this year. How much longer can they keep Yoshiteru Endo down??? My guess? Exactly three weeks. !+)
2. Bakersfield - Lenny's rotation is a conundrum... good, but it was supposed to be great. After an incredible 2030, Henry Carter looks less like Markus Hancock and more like a traditional 3rd or 4th starter. If Carter figures it out, along with Maro Mata's full-season debut, Bakersfield can compete with Reno long into September.
3. Aurora - It's uncomfortable to suggest that Mike's team is going to end in third place two years in a row, yet I'm left thinking that is probably the case. Great all-around team that is almost definitely greater the sum of its parts. A singular vision with a lowered salary from even last year, Aurora is still in a bit of a rebuilding mode, but they'll be back before you know it.
4. Palm Springs - Denny and Palm Springs have a guy on their payroll named Pablo Ortiz who's pretty good at baseball. The problem is that none of his teammates seem to like him. Is it that they're jealous? Probably.
5. Tempe - The best-named player in PEBA: Poto Loschilosurdo leads this team to the Rodriguez Cup, destroying the general understanding of baseball and ushering in a wave of Genoan pitchers into PEBA, all named Poto Loschilosurdo. Cooper Harris is going to be amazing for real though.
6. Bob - The Bob Bobs are going to Bob all over the SL this year. You think you've seen Bob bob before? Pah! This is going to be the Bobbiest season that has ever Bob'd before.

Rising Sun
1. Toyama - This team is a juggernaut.. and the juggernaut is all roughly the same age. They only have 9 guys 30 or above. Dylan has to do very little to keep this team snowballing into an eventual Rodriguez Cup. At this point, it seems to be only a matter of time.
2. Neo-Tokyo - In what COULD be their last season with Tomas Martinez, the Akira have been conspicuously silent. The reigning SL Champs come into the year with largely the same team (save for Honma's departure, but Ellerby looks ready to slide right in without missing a beat), this team will be in the playoffs for sure. It's just a matter of whether it'll be as a wildcard or a Rising Sun champion. At this point, I'm saying the former.
3. Shin Seiki - They have an amazing, young staff, and a lineup that would win most of the divisions in the league... unfortunately they're in the Rising Sun. Really though, Kevin should feel elated because if it wasn't for Shin Seiki's continued and historic dominance over years, who knows if the division would be as strong as it is today. So really, he did this to himself and no one should feel bad for him.
4. Okinawa - Not one to be left out, Matt is grooming his elite starter by way of Shou Saitou. Probably a year or so out (I'd expect a call up around roster expansion 2034), this team is going to have a starter they can build around for a long time. For now the Shisa have to figure out what to do with their current roster and who makes sense to keep.
5. Niihama - Give this team four seasons at the most. Dan's got something special brewing.
