FIRST WEEK OF SPRING TRAINING

Record: 3-4
Position: 4th place ( 2GB)
We started Spring Training with two wins, but as we approached the weekend, we had 3 straight loss. on Saturday we won with 3 run in the 8th and 9th inning against the Claymors. On Sunday we gave up a winnable game against Charleston.

Injured players: none

Most of the superstars of San Antonio didn’t start any game this weekend to avoid the risk of injuries, they are just limited to practice sessions and game simulations. Some of them will have some PA/batters faced this upcoming week.
Notale batters:
SP Orlando Garcia (.316./381/.474 over 21PA)
SS Rick Coughlan (.278/.350/.611 over 20PA)

Notable Pitchers:
RP Robby Black Era 0.00, 1 H in 7IP
SP Jose Diaz Era 2.57 in 2 Starts
RP Kevin Thomas Era 0.00, 1Save, 6K, 0HR, 0BB over 5.1IP

SECOND WEEK OF SPRING TRAINING

Record: 5-8
Position: 4th place ( 3 GB)

We won two game this week by a big margin against Florida and Manchester. 3 of the 4 games we lost were close matches. But then again, is not important the final results, what’s important is the coaching staff figuring out the roster of the upcoming season! The 26 man roster is taking shape!

Injured players: Leon Gil, benched for 5 day, hamstring soreness

Notale batters:
SP Orlando Garcia (.314./368/.400 over 39 PA)
SS Rick Coughlan (.300/.344/.600 over 32 PA)

Spring Training Recap

Record: 9-15 .375
Position: 5th Place (6 GB)
Injury: none
(I can’t find a way to see the team statistics in game, sorry)

most of the starters of last year, they played just a couple of AB, so don't worry people the 9-15 record does not rapresent the real quality of the team.
Mike told us that the upcoming sim will simulate 8 game, so no 7 days lineup...

Here the 26 man roster for the opening day of the season:

-Catcher Position: 5 players played during the spring training, nobody put impressive number on the field and unfortunately Randy Howell didn’t look sharp on the field, he will start the season in AAA (for now!)
The two catchers will be Jessie Kimball (who had a fantastic year last season in the minors) and Luis Villanueva!

-First Base: there's no doubt that Gilberto Fernandez is our man for the future, but Jorge Esparza and Kokei Nishikawa had fantastisc numbers during spring training. Kokei prevailed with an amazing (.360/.448/.400) and will share the first base duty with Gilberto!
The two First base will be Gilberto Fernandez and Kokei Nishikawa!

-Second Base: I never had doubt on Derrick Dwyer and Shizekau Shimizu! they will probably alternate, Plus Dwyer will also start as DH!

-Third Base: the one and only Luis Cedeno will be the third base of our team!

-Shortstop: Rick Caughland will be the starting Shortstop, is a solid player both on defense and with the bat! Jeff van der Eijk will be our utility player in the infield department

-Left Field: Danny Burton is a veteran for this team, and will be a cornerstone for San Antonio!

-Right Field: Luis Antonio Aguilera is a young interesting prospect! will see how he handle the best pitchers in the world!

-Center Field: Peter Monnington is a solid player, but Andy Edwards is a great player too! despite not being the starting CF he will have playing time during the season in all the three parts of the field!

-Starting Rotation:
Dan Stockstill: will make his peba debut as 5th SP
Jose Diaz: had a good Spring Training. he is in his last year of contract. he will be the 4th in the rotation
Vincente Diaz looks need to find his groove. he's solid when he finds his rhythm. he will be our 3rd SP
Miguel Torres is a solis pitcher too. he will be the 2nd SP
Orlando Garcia: is our ace. he will start on opening day!

-Closer: Pedro Torres was a SP last year we tried as closer, might work, we will see as time goes by.

-Relievers:
RP Alfredo Reyes, acquired during the winter meeting from West Virginia.
RP keith Jacob will debut this year.
RP Jorge Garcia.
RP Warren Manning.
RP Leon gil will have a shot after a great season in AAA last year.
RP Zhu Lang Fo is left handed, nothing special, but we need some lefty pitchers in the bullepen.
RP Sergio Portillo has good stats last year.
