Ken, I hope I was able to give Mr. Streets his money's worth!
In the last few minutes of the 6-hour event, I was in the car, and was battling desperately to keep our 10th place in the race, and the Streets Casino-sponsored car ate up basically all the TV time in the last 3 minutes of the event
For context :
The #67 of Darius Verzinskas, one of the faster guys in our series, was catching up to me like crazy after recovering from a spin, taking huge chunks of time every lap ... but it came down to the last 3 minutes.
If I am honest, I have never been so terrified/excited/focused as I was in these last few laps of the race. Most of the time I was ~2 seconds a lap slower than #67 , but I set the 3 fastest laps I ever ran on that track in the last 5 laps of the race ... trying to desperately keep him behind me.
Silly context #2, in case you are confused by the joking back and forth :
- The Irish commentator, Eoin (pronounced "Owen"), is team-mates with #67, and has a cat named 'Mustang'.
- The Scottish commentator, Chris, was being trolled by one of the top teams by having his face plastered on the hood of their car. The other commentators spent most of the 6-hour event trying to constantly get the TV cameras to zoom in on the (admittedly unflattering) paint scheme
