Alfredo Aranda takes the mound to start the 8th, and with the SL DH out, vomiting his guts out, Mark Powers, the Aurora pitcher will take an AB in the All-Star game... And after taking a ball and a strike, Powers puts it in play!! But he just grounds it to 3rd for the out...

Out comes Paul Conner and in comes the Hartford closer, Matt 'Zippy' Brown to face Gabe Moran...

'Zippy' gets Moran to ground out to second for the second out...

And Conner comes out again, this time to bring in San Juan closer Jose Gomez...

Shane Willis greets Gomez with an opposite field liner for a 2-out single, bringing up Andres Hernandez...

The Yuman lifts a 1-strike pitch into medium deep left-center - but not a problem for Carpenter...

On to the bottom of the 8th, 4-2, SL...

In comes Bakersfield's Vicente Medina to start the 8th and he will face San Antonio's Bob Pinksen, the 2B being the lone San Antonio All-Star...

Pinksen lines a full count pitch right to Ortiz for the first out... and that brings up Lujan...

The Alleghanie star pulls a lazy fly ball into RF for the second out...

And here comes Paul Woods, and he's making a change and bringing in Crystal Lake's 'Numbers' Jimenez...

And out of the dugout comes San Juan's SS Roberto Salazar...

'Dracula' takes a 2-1 pitch the opposite way for a line drive single...

Jimenez gets out of the inning by inducing Jimmy Hudson into a soft fly ball to Moran in left...

On to the 9th, SL - 4, IL - 2...

Here in the 9th, the SL clinging to a 4-2 lead, Jose Gomez faces 'Fido' Castro leading off...

And Castro rolls the first pitch to second for the first out...

And before Conners has a chance to get out of the dugout, 'Puddi' comes racing in from the bullpen for the IL...

Perez, with 28 saves and a 1.52 ERA opens his All-Star appearance walking Ortiz with a 3-2 pitch in the dirt...

AND THE FANS GO WILD!!! The Jester, emulating his taunting brother, muscles up and takes a 1-2 pitch over the left field wall for a 2-run blast - 371 feet and the SL open up the game, 6-2!!

Perez recovers, getting Barton to roll a ball to first for the second out... and then he strikes out Boyer, swinging, but the damage is done!

On to the bottom of the 9th, it's the SL - 6, the IL - 2...

To make matters worse for the IL, the sudden appearance of food poisoning has left the team out of players, so Havana's closer, 'Puddi' Perez, will have to hit for himself here to lead off the 9th...

And like Powers before him, he makes contact, but rolls the ball back to the pitcher for the first out...

Jimenez gets Mora to roll the ball to second for the second out...

And Paul woods, with 1-out to go, calls for the Aurora closer, Bob Burns...

Burns faces Manchester's Carpenter, and he swings and misses at a 1-2 pitch and it's over!!

The SL wins, 6-2!!

For the Sovereign League, it's 6 runs on 9 hits and 0 errors... the Imperial League, 2 runs on 7 hits and 0 errors. 'Zoom Zoom' Suitani with the win and 'Nails' Yokohama with the loss. There was no save.

The MVP was Toyama's Armando Gandarilla, whose 2-run homer in the 4th gave the SL the lead, which they never relinquished.

Gandarilla, as well as Aurora's Nick Heath and Palm Springs' Shane Willis all had 2-hits.

Game time was 4:04 and was played before a full house of 55,000.

I apologize about the couple of oddities that came up with tonights game - I hope I at least made the most of it, from a storyline point of view.

When I got to the line-up screen, the game had already set the IL as the home team - with no way of changing that, and Palm Springs had already been declared the host for this years game, and so I did the next best thing - create a story, and hence Ollie Morris, Ronald Harmon and the bat...

Then, in the late innings, making the substitutions, I accidentally lost the IL DH - and I was left with the pitcher hitting. Dylan's quick thinking lead to evening things out on the SL side, and with that - with multiple hitters now out of the game, I created 'Oystergate'. I apologize for the 'disruption', but at least I was able to get a representative of each team into the game...
