2030 All-Star Game

#1 Post by Borealis »

The 2030 All-Star Game will be held as part of Thursday's (2/6) sim and we will (plan on) have a live broadcast of the game right here in this thread!! We will have a special 4pm PT cut-off for exports so that I can do all the grunt work of setting up the All-Star teams. Game time is tentatively scheduled for 5pm PT/8pm ET. Come one, Come all - bring a glass of a chilled Napa Chardonnay, a vegan hot dog, some carb-free Tortilla chips and guacamole! This year's game will be played at Elderberry Field, as the Palm Springs Codgers play host to this years even!

All-Star voting has closed, and the teams have been selected. All-Star rosters will be posted here after tomorrow's sim. Currently, two potential All-Stars participation is threatened by nagging injuries - we shall see...

The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Palm Springs Codgers are prepping the city for the 24th PEBA All-Star Game! This year's game will be the first hosted by the Codgers and is the 7th time the Desert Hills have welcomed PEBA's best to the Midsummer Classic.

Last season's game, a Sovereign League 6-4 win at Jurassic Park, Fargo, reduced the IL lead in the series, 12-11. Games played at Sovereign League parks have gone the SL's way, 6-5. As part of the pre-game festivities, the Commissioner, 'Harry' Castle, will be announcing the location for next years, 25th anniversary All-Star Game (hint: it'll be an IL club).

Only two all stars from Bakersfield, and I can't make much of a compelling argument to include others. A good indication of how much of a down year we're having. Good luck to Christian Webb, Vincente Medina, and the SL All Stars. ESTABLISH DOMINANCE.

The fans have descended upon the Mojave Desert in anticipation of tonights game between the Imperial League All-Stars and the Sovereign League stars. A special All-Star addition of the Palm Springs monthly Desert Art Festival has kept the downtown area hopping, with this fan creating his own All-Star memory, depicting his favorite All-Star, Toyama 1B Armando Gandarilla:

Plenty of Celebrity All-Star Tours have shown off the glitz of Palm Springs and neighboring Palm Desert, including Elvis Presley's 'Honeymoon Hideaway':

And lest we forget, exploring the wonders of Joshua Tree National Park, and the wonders of desert life:

As part of the All-Star festivities, the players competed at Indian Canyons South course in a friendly 9-hole competition that provided plenty of Wows and head shaking. The competition began in earnest on the 144 yard par 3 2nd hole, where the closest to the pin contest was held. Balls flew everywhere, as All-Stars tried to nail the pin - in traps, well long, well short, and out on Murray Canyon Drive, but it was Okinawa Starter Takanobu Shirai who dropped his tee shot 17" from the pin.

Play continued on the#1 handicapped 3rd hole, where the longest drive part of the competition occurred. While rumor was that the fans down the fairway claim to have heard shattered glass at one of the homes on the course, when Bakersfield's Christian Webb muscled up and hit a high arcing hook well off the course, it was Hartford's Luis Cedeno who took home the prize - a 367 yard shot down the middle of the fairway.

By the end of the day, with the scores tallied up, it was Charleston closer Cleve Douglas who took home the honors, with 4-over par 39. Yuma 1B Andres Hernandez took 2nd, with a 6-over par 41. When asked about his unexpected half prowess, he said he 'lived in a building across from Genesis Park (during his time with Shin Seiki) and the high-rise had a driving range on the roof, so he got plenty of hours in during the season'.

While the fans begin to enter Elderberry Field, in the shadow of the San Jacinto Mountains, in anticipation of tonights game, they are treated to the musical sounds of some of the Coachella Valley's own artists, beginning with EMAYLA, followed by jazz saxophonist Tony Merlo, who will also be performing the National Anthem this evening.

Twitter post from @RayDEnze:

PEBA Commissioner 'Harry' Castle, in his All-Star, pre-game press conference, has just announced the first, of many, plans for next season's PEBA25 Celebration - that the 25th Annual All-Star Game will be hosted by the West Virginia Alleghenies at Watt Powell Field.

With the haunting tones of Tony Merlo's rendition of the National Anthem float off into the desert evening, emerging from the SL dugout to throw out the first pitch is an original OG Codger... The fans all rise to their feet to great the 'Phenom', Ollie Morris!!

Ollie's pitch is in the dirt, nice bobbled, but held by SL catcher Tony Parker - but what's this?? A figure is emerging from the IL dugout - and he's wearing the old brown and gold of the West Virginia Coal Sox - it's former-West Virginia star 1B Ronald Harmon! and he's carrying with him a bat to the mound...

Harmon and Morris are huddled together... Morris is shaking his head no... Harmon continues excitedly... finally Morris looks to agree and steps back, away from Harmon who then throws the bat in the air, with Ollie Morris catching it...

and SUDDENLY, with rapidness, they alternate hands on the bat, moving towards the handle - as if this were a school yard pick 'em!!

And that's it!! Harmon gets his hand on top, flips the bat out of Morris' hands and begins hopping up and down...

I don't know what has just happened folks, but out onto the field races the IL starters, while Ollie Morris walks back to the SL looking crestfallen...

Taking the mound for the Imperial League is the Havana ace, 'Old Nick', 12-2, with a 1.84 ERA, and he'll be throwing to his young battery mate at Havana, Foppe Ros...
