Scottish Flashback: May 27-June 2 Edition

The Edinburgh News
Edinburgh, Scotland – The new-look Scottish Claymores debuted last week and … actually looked better.
In the first days of the post-Pat Barry era, Scotland put together its first winning week of the season and went 4-1. The Claymores even swept a two-game road series against Trans Atlantic Division-leading Havana.
Don’t book playoff tickets just yet, Claymores fans, but maybe you can at least take the bags off your heads …
The rebuilt starting rotation, for one week at least, looked like maybe they’d be worth the trouble. Neil Maes, acquired in the Barry deal with Bakersfield, won his first start and looked solid doing so; Oniji Yokoyama continued a strong season with a win over Havana in which he allowed just 1 run; Carlos Pérez threw a strong game against Arlington.
And then there was veteran Francisco Robles.
The 39-year-old threw 8 innings of 1-hit, shutout ball against Arlington on June 2, helping the Scottish to a 9-0 win. For the game, Robles threw 8.0 innings, allowed 1 hit, 0 runs, and 1 walk while striking out 3. His PQS score: 4.
Inspiring stuff.

Boy, the stories your rotation could tell! What a great assembly of starters.

By that, you mean “what a great assembly of well-past-their-prime starters.” Yokoyama, at least, still appears to have gas in the tank, and the others rise up sporadically. It’ll be interesting to see if, collectively, they can still carry a team.
